The Real Madrid Outlet is Open | for just over 24 hours

Sorry, but if we didn't offer £40m for Fabregas who we need more I can't see us offering anywhere near it for Özil (as much as I woud love him here).

According the ESPN it's not Ozil but Modric we're bidding for. And that makes much more sense than Ozil

Siro López: "Manchester United want to Özil"

The contertulio footballer named for which he received an offer for Real Madrid, who had advance François minutes before Gallardo, with several details: "It would be close to 40 million pounds ($ 46.5 billion) and the player is aware of the 'overbooking' there ". Gallardo denied being German.

Siro López forward exclusively to the player who was dealt Gallardo François Mesut Özil, although he later denied it:"The team that wants to sign is Manchester United and the player who wants to strengthen it is Mesut Özil".

"The offer could be 40 million pounds (46.5 million euros) and the player is aware that with the arrival of Bale will be more overbooking and has clearly going to ask the Real Madrid to accept the offer of the United", he added.

"The economic benefit is impressive given what it cost at the time and in that space is spare.Player may consider the option and the agent is moving as it is World Cup year. The team is Manchester United and the new coach wants or yes, "he concluded.

It'd be a pointless move, he's a great player but we don't really need him. Buy a fecking central midfielder.

Brilliant footballer. I've loved watching him ever since he made a big splash for Germany on the international stage. But there's no way madrid will let him go.

He's immense but we have more pressing issues, i.e midfield.

To be honest, last season he tended to fade a bit in games and was subbed off quite a lot iirc, but I really like him and I think we would only go for him if Rooney was definitely off. I don't think we would bid anywhere near £40m though, or we would have done for Cesc imo.

Just to give a bit of background. The discussion was on Punto Pelota, Gallardo who they treat as part clown part village idiot told them Madrid were expecting a bid of 45.6m Euros for a "foreign player".

They then played guess the player and the buyer. Siri Lopez immediately said 45.6m, that's an English club bidding 40m pounds. He then followed up with the only club considering paying that kind of money for an "available" Madrid player is United - as Coentrao and Pepe are cheaper than that. Several of the regulars (who often break stories) agreed that Madrid did have an excess of midfielders and that United have been talking to the club for a while, and that at that price Madrid would have to listen.

Lopez said he reckoned the one closest to a deal was Ozil, because he's the one looking most distressed about the arrival of Isco, and the possible arrival of Bale. He's also been tagged as someone who plays worse when he's got to compete for a starting place.

Modric is the more obvious option for us, but it's not at all obvious that Madrid are willing to sell - he's one year into his contract, he has been getting steadily better. He is the closest they've got to a direct stand in for Alonso, who may not be a fit enough to do a full season.

Anyway, as I said, it does hark back to a story back in June that we were going to bid on Ozil and Khedira a story that cooled after we started bidding for Fabregas.

So just the usually media bollocks then?

In regards to that replacing Alonso thing, I thought that was what Illarramendi was bought for, no?

Not quite the usual media bollocks, some of the people on the show are close to Madrid - but the fact the discussion wasn't introduced by one of the regulars makes it suspect. If they knew and were confident Gallardo wouldn't have been invited there for comic relief. I did end up pretty certain that we're talking to Madrid about someone - but I wouldn't bet the house on the 40m figure or the target.

Illaramendi or Casemiro are more likely to squeeze out Khedira than Alonso.

In other news, City are believed to be making another attempt to get Pepe.

Maybe it's us bidding €45.6m for Ronaldo.

Does nobody think a midfield 3 of Carrick, Kagawa and Ozil would work just fine against most teams in the league?

We are clearly moving to a high pressing, gaining possession quick team - I always feel these teams aslong as they can hold onto the ball well don't need a great deal of steal.

I don't think the 3 of them would have trouble controlling matches. And if either Kagawa or Ozil was placed on the wing and Cleverley brought in then it still adds to our ability to retain possession to have players like this.

He's one of the best players in the world and I think we can most definitely make room for him. If we can get him we should, although I don't see it.

The midfielders we currently have could do fine against most teams in the league.

We need players who will help us dominate the midfield against the likes of Chelsea and Man City, as well as big European ties. Carrick, Ozil and Kagawa would be suicidal.

Ozil is a class player, but if he's the only midfielder we'd sign, it would not help us much.
