I think it's time to take some inspiration from American Football.
Adnan Januzaj------------Luke Shaw--Ander Herrera--Robin van Persie--Juan Mata--Wayne Rooney--Rafael------------Ángel Di María
---------------------------------------------------------------David de Gea---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------Phil Jones-----------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------Antonio Valencia-------------------------------------------------------------------
Now I know at first glance this looks farcical, but let me assure you this is revolutionary.
The first obvious point is that our goalkeeper is not playing in a traditional position, however we know big Dave's distribution is on a new level and he would excel in a traditional QB role spraying the ball to the rest of the team, whilst still carrying out the traditional playground role of rush keeper.
Now this is where the real genius of the formation kicks in, we are told time and time again that we have no central defence and no midfield, whilst also having an abundance of number 10's and a couple of decent wingers. This formation requires NO midfield and NO CBs. Obviously Januzaj and Di Maria (feck off guys he's coming) are natural fits to the WR position and will wreak havoc with all the space at their disposal. But how to they get the space you ask, well the huge amount of playmakers patrolling the middle of the pitch will naturally draw the other team to them leaving the rest of the field exposed, which either plays in our WR or alternatively gives our RBs, Jones and Valencia, lots of space to unleash their trademark bulldozing runs.
Now it's not all attack, that would be stupid. Both Jones and Valencia have shown they can defend so from that RB position at the back can drop deep into a defensive position, whilst both Shaw and Rafael who are playing Tight End can also drop off the attacking unit, whilst Herrera and Mata fall behind Rooney and RvP to provide stability in the middle of the park.
