The Pretty Formations Thread 14/15

That's what I'm hoping for as well.

A muppet 3-5-2,

-De Gea-

Smalling - Hummels - Evans

Rafael ----------------------- Shaw
- Vidal -- Herrera -

-- Mata --

- Rooney - Van Persie -

That side, under van Gaal, would win the league.

Let's try & get as close to that as possible!

----------Kahn
-----------Varane
Cafu -Stones ----Flanagan
--- --Kroos --Savage --
Rommedahl---------Duff
------------Chopra
------- Koller

-------------------------------------------------- De Gea (on stilts) ------------------------------------------------

Rafael da Silva (inverted 38° angle pivoted wing back)----Evans (left centre-half)----Jones (left back) (only 3 defenders because Rafael's position plus this explanation takes up too much space)

Valencia (Enner) --- Herrera (Mexican manager only kidding Mexican midfielder)---Nani (my nanny 'cos she's better than Nani lol also she's dead RIP)

Howard Webb (just a banter)--- Rooney (let's hope he doesn't "rooney" this formation)--- Welbeck (no jokes about Danny)

------------------------------------------------ Suarez (oh wait lol) ------------------------------------------------

----------Kahn
-----------Varane
Cafu -Stones ----Flanagan
--- --Kroos --Savage --
Rommedahl---------Duff
------------Chopra
------- Koller

Love it! Duff and Rommedahl feeding crosses upto the big man, and Chopra there to pounce on knock downs and loose balls!

with 3 of our best player (Mata, Rooney, van Persie) all central figures we either have to sacrifice our out of form winger to play 3-5-2 like the durch or maybe 4-1-2-1-2. We we keep playing with winger what I expect Louis to do, either 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 we have to move either Rooney or Mata there. Given that all are fit of course. In reality we need all to cover injuries. Always good to have two equal player pushing for one place, not like Rafael at RB without competition we gets worse.

As I read LvG wants to transform Rooney in a CM I have adapted to that scenario regardless what I think about that.

---------------------------De Gea------------------------------

---Mata----------Carrick------------Rooney------------ RVP------

--------------------------Adnan---------------------------------

------------Smalling------------------Jones---------------------

----Shaw---------------Rafael----------------Herrera----------

Winning formula

------------Shaw

---------Hummels----------Herrera--------RVP

De Gea------------Vidal---------------Rooney

---------Jones-------------Mata------------Januzaj

------------Rafael

Mine comes with its own chant:

I went left to right,
I went left to right!
Thinking about it,
I think it looks shite!

You would buy in Depay and not play Januzaj ?

Alright mate.

I wouldn't play Januzaj week in week out. He still needs to be protected because a lot peolpe do hype him. I don't want him to the next Macheda. His games haven't all been good for United. His game for Belgium at the WC wasn't any good either. He can be a future star for us but we shouldn't expect him to be a regular starter already.

Depay because we need a new winger and his name is currently mentioned. You can put there anybody. Maybe Mata on the left and Valencia on the right but the main point was to include what most consider our best 3 players in attack.

Can someone do up my formation on one of those pretty graphics please (include the explanations)

-------------------DDG?----------------
------------------Jones-----------------
------------------Vidal------------------
Rodriguez-Robben-Schweinsteiger-Iniesta--
-------RVP-Messi-Ronaldo-Müller----------

We will win the league with this team!

Are we allowed to use those pictures for formations? Like football user for example.

This thread is a creative and open-minded place where everyone is welcome to experiment and express their passion for pretty formations in any way they like. This is no place for rigid authoritarians and bureaucratic bores. You are free here, my Son. Feast away.

I'm loving this thread so badly!

I wish it was "Wife" where "Tactics" are...

The "we've been linked to so many fecking players, we could build another team" formation.

Ochoa
De Vrij - Martins Indi - Vlaar
Janmaat ----------------------- Blind
Strootman
Sneijder --------- Kuyt
Robben - RVP
Hang on, that's just the Dutch team with a Mexican goalkeeper FFS!

Serious effort keeping only De Gea and adding Shaw and Herrera:

De Gea
Janmaat Hummels Vermaelen Shaw
Carvalho
Vidal Herrera
Depay Cavani Rodriguez
Hmm, I dunno - where will the goals come from?!

Jones! Durrrr!

White text win k ;)

-----------Solskjær-Larsson------------

Can it work?

El Classico 2014?...

Iniesta - Rakitic
Messi - Suarez - Neymar

vs.

Falcao
Ronnie --------- Bale
Modric - Kroos

Marcelo - Ramos - Varane - Carvajal
Lopez
Holy crap!

Love these threads. :D

4-2-1-3

De Gea
Rafael - Smalling - Evans - Shaw
Herrera - Cleverley
Rooney
Sanchez - Van Persie - Mata

----------------Lindegard-----------
Smalling--Ferdinand---Evans---Buttner
Nani-----Fellaini-----Cleverley---Young
----------Welbeck--Hernandez-------

The team of players who probably need a hug after last season. Honourable mention to Zaha.

Carrick in for Smalling would be my choice but that would be pretty damn good. Still just needs a little bit more pace somewhere I think.

We have so much potential if LVG can just transform one of our attacking midfielders to a deeper role. If we managed to convert one of them to learn the defensive job with the intensity it requires it could look like this. No guarantee it will happen, low likelihood but LVG has done it plenty
of times before so there is a chance.

Rooney is successfully converted to a deep lying playmaker/box to box

Kagawa and Mata learns to do the role of an offensive CM

Hey mate, hope you're good. Aye, a diamond with Carrick would work fine - the reason I prefer this is partially due to the lack of pace actually. In a 3-5-2 the extra defensive strength allows the fullbacks to play as proper wingbacks - Rafael and Shaw can break forward with greater freedom in a 3-5-2 as there is more security defensively, and in doing so add pace and width to a narrow/slow attack.

Also if we did manage to sign Vidal then a Vidal/Herrera/Mata midfield is just so good that Carrick becomes redundant in there. He wouldn't add much that isn't already there, he'd just overlap and potentially clog things up. A centre back though would add more stability at the back without taking away from the role in midfield. If we did get that midfield - big if - then you really just want to give it as much responsibility as possible IMO.

Yeah not bad thanks mate, yourself?

Fair points and certainly in the toughest games I'd want a more natural defender but I think in more standard games having carrick there may let everyone else play that little higher which could make a big difference given our lack of pace.

Plus we may need Herrera to run the channels a bit just to open a bit more space to help stretch te game.

Still got two big signings required to make anything like this happen anuway but either approach would be cool. Though I would be slightly torn as I would love a winger who would run at people in there as well.

Spiderman
The Flash - Thor - Iron Man - Human Torch
The Thing
Captain America - Wolverine
Hulk - Superman - Batman
Beautiful. This lot would beat most sides, especially with the full backs bombing on. Hulk will need to improve on his world cup form mind.

That snooker team:

------------Barry Hawkins--------------------------------
Ding-Shaun Murphy-John Higgins-Mark Williams-------------
Stephen Hendry-Ronnie O'Sullivan-Mark Selby-Judd Trumph-
---------Neil Robertson-Marco Fu-------------------------

We might win by 147 goals...

Replace Carrick with Vidal and add new centre-backs. Only shame are our non-existent wingers in there, but the front 3 make all up for that IMO.

If we get Di Maria:

We can swiftly change to 4-2-3-1 as well, I'm not sure it suits Fletcher and Herrera (and Rooney TBH):
