The Patrice Evra Appreciation Thread

Does anyone dislike Evra? (Apart from scousers)

Fantastic professional I'd love him back at the club in some capacity when he does eventually retire. He can be re-United with his pal

during that period the Ferdinand-Vidic partnership is mentioned alot , and evra get's somewhat overlooked, as if his defensive contributions were not just as sound

I always refer to that period as the Rio-Vidic-Evra-VDS period. Best defensive block I've ever witnessed.

Gutted for him last night.
Toppest of all reds....Wish nowt but the best for him, in every aspect. A United great and a proper legend, if certain others have got that title and are seriously undeserving, he deserves it more than most.

I see the Scouse cnuts were out in force last night, laughing at him. Justice for Suarez, innit?!

Love following him on Instragram. He shows a lot of love for United on there. Hurts me that he's still playing high level football and not wearing a United shirt.

Completely random but we need a thread just for the shit he posts on instagram, love him

Just gotta love that guy.

I'm sorry, but did he speak in Italian? If he did, good for him. To be at two legendary clubs in a career, and still playing well at that age and national team. A shame towards the end at United, he didn't have quite a good deserved ending but it was during Moyes era anyway.

A fantastic left back for us in his prime. His fitness levels were astounding, even more so when you consider the amount of games he played. I may have this wrong but I seem to recall he played in most competions. The league, F.A. cup, league cup, champions league, while other players were rested regularly from the league and F.A. cup and even league games that they thought were against weak opponents. I am sure this led to him being overworked and to the fall of his exceptionally high standards during his latter days with us. One of the United greats.. along with Irwin.

A top player and professional who actually knew what playing for this club was all about.

This man should still be playing for us.

You can't help but think how important someone like him could have been in the dressing room at the moment, everything you could potentially like and need in a footballer and most importantly a winner.

He was a defensive liability durung his final few years.

It was the right time to leave.

Don't disagree with you which is why I mention dressing room. I definitely wouldn't consider him a starter but enough games in the season to keep him involved.

Also still seems to be going strong for France & Juve as a squad member. I'm think the equivalent of Carricks role this year would have been perfect for what he provides behind the scenes ( whether he would be happy with a bit part role is another story ).

He's basically a starter for France. He has played 16 games for them since September 2015.

Moving to Juventus was a good decision. He won the Scudetto twice and reached another Champions League final (he's lost 4 out of 5 finals!)

I don't want to say he was really bad in his last year, but he just wasn't the same. Sad really, I know he gave it all and there's nothing more evident to show this than his goal against Bayern Munich. He'd be welcomed back with open arms.

Definately. You can't forget that he also played almost every game for us over the course of 3 seasons. He was never injured. Watching him play fantastically for Juve and france these past couple of years makes me think that had he been a rotation option and not played every game then he could still have been a force.

He embodies everything you want in a manchester united player.

He's a walking, talking, footballing 500k thread Red.

I feel sorry for a lot of players in the Moyes Van Gaal era. I am sure at least some of them could have had a future at United with a competant manager

Yes! Evra for player/coach. No need for him to be a regular starter. A dozen games, coupled with his title winning mentality and love for Man Utd, would boost our dressing room.

Would still take him over Darmian at LB tbh. His character would help immensely too, no surprise we fell off the map when he left.

He is one comeback that I think has a healthy chance of working. Loves the club, gets the supporters, top professional in a position that were lacking (should still be rotated tbf) and imagine the goal celebrations with Herrera, Pogba and Ibra

Thought his wife hated/grew to hate Manchester though.

Saw his name trending on Twitter and that it was related to an MUFC return

Realised it's about nothing more than Andy Mitten asking if you want him to come back :annoyed:

Evra? Sure, why not. Obviously there are question marks considering his defending and age, but think about having him at left back at West Ham last monday instead of the god awful Darmian who can't create to save his life. Evra would be great against crap teams sitting deep. Evra, Pogba and Martial could have their own playground on our left side, creating havoc and shit. The French Connection.

As for people talking about the pace of The Premier League, Evra's still faster than Blind, must be.

Or maybe just Shaw could get his act together so we wouldn't have this discussion!

Wasn't we all slating him for being way off the pace in his final season with us?

Pretty much. There's no denying he'll add some much needed leadership and winning mentality to the squad but let's be real, he isn't good enough to be playing more than a handful of games at most.
