Smicer, Berger, Riise, Heggem have a bit of flair about them.

No, as a cover for your current lack of midfield creativity.

Smicer and Barmby are too inconsistent, the right side of midfield is where we need to sign a top quality player

Fair enough. But then you'd have to drop one of our regulars.

?.....Hamman....Gerrard.....Berger

Murphy, McCallister and Smicer's days are numbered in that case.

I think Litmanen will be deployed as more of a midfielder now and he has a great amount of creativity, Berger has suffered from injuries but is also good at creating chances especially for Owen.

Smicer is also a very creative player, only problem is he only shows it in one of every three games

Easy.

McCallister is old and likely won't stick around too much longer. Murphy is rather inconsistent and could be valuable off the bench. Smicer could sit on the bench, thereby freeing up an EU spot for Baros. D'Allesadro has an Italian passport.
;)

I thought so, but someone else told me he did'nt <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

smicer is the only player that gives you some width

Riquelme doesn't hold an EU passport (i don't think). D'Allesandro does, and I think Romagnoli does as well.

Here's the story I fabricated for Koptalk. Amazing what people believe.

Manchester United have agreed terms with Greek international midfielder Dimitri Efthimyou. The club is expected to release a statement early this morning in the city. AEK club officials are also expeted to release a statement. The fee is rumoured to be in the region of £12m. The signing should be completed in the next week.
The 23 year old is said to be ecstatic at the latest developments, as a longtime United fan, and has already begun searching for a house in the city.
The signing comes at a time when United are seemingly on the up once more, following impressive recent performances, and the player will add much creativity to their already powerful midfield.

Efthimyou has spent ten years at AEK, interspersed with a short spell at Montepellier, and is an attacking midfielder in the Paul Scholes mould. One of his country's brightest prospects, he has scored 9 goals this season, despite being troubled by a hamstring injury. He has made a big impression in his short career, scoring a phenemonal 37 goals in 122 games for the club, and is a firm favourite among the AEk faithful.

The signing comes with little fan-fare, and media coverage, and is the latest in a string of shock moves by Sir Alex Ferguson. United have had a lacksidaisical season, which has seen the shock signing of Lauren Blanc, as well as the sale of star defender Jaap Stam. Efthimyou's signing may well add to the unsettled atmosphere at the club.

He is scheduled to arrive in Manchester in the next week.

Yes his only problem is he can be supurb one game and invisable in the next, although he has been blighted by injuries so has never really had an extended run in the team

i dont really rate smicer and surely not as highly as some other do (he´s as good as beckham .. copyright ra softlad) but he does show some promise at times ...

got your baros shirt, btw? ;)

which number is he going to wear?

Nah, i'll wait until next season ;)

his got the number 5

Jens, you ought to see him play internationals. Sensational to watch. Sort of like Barmby in that he's rather inconsistent when he arrives back at Melwood.

number 5 for a striker? <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

barmby isnt really outstanding for england .. at least not from what ive seen .. actually, its beyond me why sven keeps starting him

talking of heskey ... he´s committed the most fouls in cl so far this season .. the uefa site is better than i thought

Well you think it might put a bit of pressure on the lad if they gave him #9.

Ok dickhead, show me exactly where in this thread I said Liverpool were unlucky.

And in future may I suggest that you backup your ridiculous statements with evidence or you'll just end up making a fool out of yourself.

Well, Im back. As for Reds - Gunners:
I thought we played quite well during some periods of the game, but two players are really starting to get on my nerves: Riise and Berger. When we were piling on the pressure on Arsenal, instead of playing the ball both of them had shots from any angle on just about any kind of ball coming their way. Both of them should be told that they play in a team. The only time the ball was played short into Owen in the box he tricked three defenders and nearly scored...

Berger for instance had 5 shots and none of them was on target... Total madness... Same for Riise: he has a lot of work to do on his crossing as well...

As for our dip: this was to be expected, after all: we havent had a bad patch for a year now so there was bound the be one some time soon. Obviously we've chosen the worst possible time, but hopefully the arrival of two new strkers now and the return of Houllier in a month will provide the necessary boosts to to the team.

And, afterall: we're still a potential 6 points ahead of you though we urgently need to pick up a couple of wins. As for your renaissance: there was a time that victories against Boro, Saints and Derby would have been thought of as 'normal'... How times have changed...
