The next Liverpool manager | Arne Slot Liverpool's Báld Fraud

Bald Dutch guys are all the rage.

Only the European cup final with a Dutch team, and winning a trophy in successive seasons in his first stint at a big domestic club, while playing attractive football.

Yeah he sucks.
Surely Pool's bar is higher than this though? It was the ECC, the one Mou won with Roma against him.

I think you need to lure Emery away from Villa if possible, otherwise O'Neil from the candidates we've seen linked heavily.

Conference league...

And didn't exactly have a tough run to the final. Partizan, Slavia Prague and Marseille then lost to Mourinho's Roma in the final.

Surprised nobody has yet brought up Slot's encounters with Mourinho yet.

And so the media PR around Liverpool’s next manager begins. Sky sports leading with a headline on Slot: 'crazy, sexy football'. Somehow I doubt that would be the headline had Slot been in talks with any other club, but they've got to fill the scousers with optimism about their so-called 'heavy metal football' being replicated.

I'm scarred by dutch managers. The reality is we have no clue how he'll do, and there will be a post Klopp dip anyway. All you can do as a club is go after someone with the right style and some success, and then hope he can adapt to your league and club.

Perfect answer/counter for all those who cry "What managers are out there is we sack ETH".

Not saying this guy will be a success, just that there are lots of managers out there if you have a good system in place and willing to look outside of the "big names".

Know very little about him, but anyone they get will be a step or two down from their current manager.

Hopefully he turns out to be another overhyped Dutch loser who is found to be out of his depth in the PL

He didn't say he sucks though.

I don't know much about Arnie Slut but whoever he is, he has a huge job on his hands and he hasn't yet worked at a major club. I was hoping Liverpool would fall for the De Zerbi hype personally.

Already convinced yourself he’s amazing, how very Liverpool supporter of you. Such a weirdly defensive post

He might end up being the dogs bollocks for all any of us know, but nothing he’s achieved would make me certain he’s bound to come into a big job in England and do amazing things.

If he does well at pool (which I obviously hope not), they’ll be known as the ‘Slot machine’.

Seems like a risky move to me his CV is lacking to say the least

I was praying that we wouldn't. It's strange as there don't seem to be a great deal of managers out there to take over the mantle when Pep, Klopp and Ancelotti call it a day. I suppose we can wait to see how it pans out for Inzaghi, Alonso, Amorim, Slot etc. but they don't seem to have the same aura about them....early days though!

Liverpool's natural state is that of a banter club, which they were for a long time before they got lucky with Klopp. When I look at this guy Slot...I'm sure he's a lovely person, but he's got banter written all over him.

Just as big a risk as when we appointed EtH, maybe even more so. They've got a pretty big rebuild on themselves, as it's going to be hard to eventually replace Salah and VVD.

Definitely see what you mean. Although I think Xabi Alonso does have the aura. I think he'll be a very successful manager and he seems incredibly intelligent.

He looks like Matt Lucas too, which definitely isn't going to help him when he has a bad spell

Even if it's the ECC, it's still "only" Feyenoord, and it's something to be excited about for me. The reference was in that ligt, to the post I quoted - not to mean it's some great accomplishment or anything.

Emery isn't a realistic target currently imo, would Villa let him leave, would he even want to switch if he gets them into the CL? And (albeit under different circumstances), Emery has already failed miserably at a big English club as well, would that be something that really, really excites you?

I don't mind a risky hire if it's clear that the potential is there to create a "next big thing", so to speak. And imo the potential is definitely more there with a guy like Slot than some known quantity who has never achieved great things in his career. If Slot doesn't work out, it'll be clear soon enough and that's also not the worst thing in the world.

Where did I say he's amazing? Just pointed out that there are plenty of things to be positive/excited about. And no, of course nothing could make you certain about that - odds are actually even stacked against him I'd say if you look what happened to Ten Hag and plenty of others coming out of the Eredivisie. But "nothing he's done would excite me" was pushing it a bit imo.

If Slot was the name mentioned as the front runner when Klopp announced he's stepping down, Pool fans would have had a meltdown. Not buying the "this is fine" narrative being peddled by some.

The advantage that whoever their next manager will have over whoever we employ, is that they’ve got an established support structure. It’s a significantly better environment in terms of chances to succeed, so he certainly won’t have many excuses.

It feels like any new appointment for the big clubs is going to be a considerable risk, noting the managerial market as well as going from Klopp to someone else in Liverpool’s case.

I wouldn't even say Alonso is a less risky bet and put him as risky as the other names mentioned. Who’s to say this Leverkusen run isn’t just the German equivalent of Leicester 15/16?

It’s not pushing it though it’s just my opinion. It’s just not an exciting hire, it’s a really risky one. And one I’m thankful my club isn’t making. Again, he might end up doing great, but it would massively surprise me, as there’s very little to suggest he can go in and fill the huge void Klopp is going to leave.

Saw this in reddit. From a Feyenoord fan on his style of play. First line reads like he has a similar style to Klopp. I think that is what they are aiming for.
Condition and stamina is key, very high pressure, high backline, he used both normal wingbacks and inverted wingbacks, cdm drops down in possesion, wingers usually lefty on the right and a righty on the left. His biggest ability imo is he can read games like no other. Players always praise him that everything he prepares before a game with what the opposition is going to do comes true. I'll add on to this comment later, need to reevaluate my life without him for a bit.

Edit: the amount of times we turned a game around is mental. Also incredible at keeping the whole squad happy, cant remember ever hearing anyone complain in 3 years. He's amazing with the media never heard him say anything weird or strange. A few weeks ago he was at Rondo a football program in The Netherlands with the likes of Ruud Gullit and Marco van Basten. Slot gave a masterclass about some subjects and they both were looking at Slot like he's their teacher. Man i hope he doesn't go but if it's any other club I would' ve chosen Liverpool its a perfect fit imo.
