The new Newbie System is now in effect

How come the general forum is invisible to the newbies? Reading the general to me seems like an essential way of getting acquainted with caf culture. It's no wonder the only noticeable newbies in the last few years have all been returnees.

Some things are meant to be earned.

Lot of folks discuss personal stuff in the generals and in general, there's a strong community vibe there. We want posters to have been here a while before they get access to this stuff.

You need to earn the right to speak ananymously about non-football related activities? I don't know, I think it's fine that newbs can tell us who should be dead or commentate on the importance of Ollie eating a kebab.

Nilsson just wants to tell newbies why they are wrong for liking certain movies. Let him.

I remember it being open to everyone and I used to read the general a lot as a long time newbie. Then it was restricted I believe primarily because of a lot of stuff being posted in general not being very google ads friendly (I may be wrong).

I felt like I knew a lot of posters at that time without ever talking to them. Reduced my caf consumption a lot when it was restricted.

Yeah, that's what led to the generals being made private.
