That was near the end of the season and the rousing 3-0 home win against Olympiakos happened in the middle of those games, which saved his bacon. He was gone four weeks later in any case.

Jose wouldn’t go if we lost 18-0 and he played Pogba in goal

Jose will go the minute CL is mathematically unattainable and not a second before because that way the Glazers only have to pay off one yr of his contract and not the full term

Once again, like Jose or not, our Board are making what should be a footballing decision all about the financials

FYI - I understand this is a rumour and may not be credible but a friend of a friend works for ESPN and we were sent some texts the week of the Newcastle game. Apparently Jorge Mendes met Ed in London to discuss Jose’s severance. Ed made an offer and Mendes stated Jose wanted payment in full. Therefore Jose was not “saved” because we came from behind to beat Newcastle, he was saved because the money it would cost to sack him would look far better in shareholder pockets than Jose’s (bear in mind the total figure would about £40m vs £11.5m if we dont make CL)

For me, it isn't about results, performances or league positions; it's about Mourinho. Just like Moyes & LVG, he's killing my enthusiasm. Unlike those two though, his overwhelming and blatant self-interest makes me highly irritated just watching his show-off sideline antics. This man has no club in his heart, it seems to me, and displays little genuine passion for football except as a means to glorify himself.
This is part of the issue. Say what you want about Moyes and LVG, you get the sense they genuinely wanted to do well for the club. To this guy, we are just another stop in his bid to collect medals or whatever massages his ego.

I believe that rumour. Jose and Mendes the con men. Let's hope Jose shows himself completely unemployable by the end. Would serve him right for being greedy.

Absolutely. Likely hurts his pocket.

Says a lot about Woodward then, if he didn't sack Mourinho because Gary fecking Neville didn't like it. Would Abramovich, Perez or any other club president/owner/CEO be that cowardly as to base his decisions on popular opinion?

It would be a massive leap to believe Neville's opinion is the reason Woodward hasn't sacked Mourinho.

People comparing Jose to Moyes need to feck off. Have ever seen our players pulled down our pants and bend over to our biggest rivals back to back at home under Mourinho? No?

Grow up you big babies!

See above from @Lentwood. Makes total sense to me.
You have to remember Ed foolishly gave him the bumper new deal. If he paid him in full, he'd likely have a lot of explaining to do to the shareholders. I honestly think this is a part of the reason for the non-sacking.

Yeah, of course the foolish contract renewal is part of why Woodward is reluctant to sack him. He’ll look like an idiot. Of course, he looks like an idiot regardless, so there’s that.

Oh so Mourinho needs another half a billion before Utd are on par with fecking Arsenal?

Really?

:wenger::wenger::wenger:

Not sure how you came to the conclusion that this was my argument??

We will never be as good as Arsenal while Mourinho is in charge. Whether he spends another half a billion or not.

With the exception of goalkeeping, Arsenal are better than us in every imaginable way. It's not even up for debate ffs.

Nah mate, no way in hell you can convince me Holding,Monreal,Mustafi,Leichsteiner and Mertsesacker are better than our defenders. They didn't have a better defence than us under LVG or last season, we still spent 60m on that same defence while they bought only a right back yet suddenly they're better than our defence? fecking Xhaka was a CB today. Nah mate, Jose has really done a fantastic job with how shit people think we are

It was the way it sounded, you made it sound like our players weren't on par with what they have, when the biggest difference is they have a manager that's made them better than what they are, while Utd have a manager that's made the players significantly worse than they actually are.

Then this is much ado about nothing, we both think the exact same thing

Shittier defense? We conceded more goals than they did eventhough we play more defensive. We also score less goals so it makes total sense that Arsenal is above us.

They have worse defenders than us in addition to a worse keeper, but yet Jose has convinced everyone we deserve to be 6th because of how shit our defense is. Is there a single one of their defenders you'd take over ours except maybe Bellerin, honestly

Spent all that money & we’re the same level as we were with Moyes (if not worse). fecking cnut needs to be sacked tonight.

Can anyone guess how he will wash his hands off today's result and throw the squad under an 18 wheeler?

Go away from my club. We're embarassing, hopeless, shameful and have no strategy.

He can't blame Pogba this time so I guess it will be something to do with the scouts again for "finding" Keita and Fabinho? Sick and tired of this guy and his approach to football.

We are playing Liverpool away - I can't even be bothered to watch the game. I am sitting here working. We are losing (as usual) and I can't even be bothered. There can't be a single United-fan who genuinely believes he is the right guy for us

No.. LVG had some of his best games vs Liverpool

He had to face Rodgers. Klopp is a better manager and schooled LvG in the EL, despite a freak Rooney goal giving us the win in the league.

It seems like the players have been motivated to care. They are not lethargic and are running about and trying. What is lacking is proper coaching, as they seem clueless about what to do with their energy. That's on Mourinho.

What bumper new deal? Was it not just one year ? Surely it can't cost that much to get rid

Name one player we scouted/ came in from outside the academy that ended up delivering as much as many of City's and Pool's since Moyes came in?

I'd argue the only one is Fellaini. Our coaching may have been shite but so has our transfer policy. Big time.

They are still many Mourinho apologists.

You don't even need to go back a few pages on this very thread.
