Is Jamie Jackson reliable? Said yesterday that the club is preparing to back Mourinho with 100 million in the January transfer window.

It's in multiple outlets. Clearly another briefing by Woodward, look at the Varane reference again. Whether it's a sincere trust in Mourinho, or Woodward just hitting back at the criticism and digs by Jose is obviously unclear.

I don't want another boring defensive minded manager. We've had 6 years of this shit.

The next guy has to be someone who sets his team up to play attacking exciting football.

Well sooner or later the owners will be asking why we are spending so much money with little results and why every manager we get seems to be a bad fit for us. Its wise for woody to focus on what he knows best and leave the football side to those who understand it

The owners are getting increasing profits every year, I doubt they even watch us play.

You don't get to be as successful as the Glaziers though by letting your employees bad mouth you in public .

Whether they watch the games or not I'm sure they have heard what Jose has been saying with all his not subtle digs at the board

Well sooner or later our bad performances will have an impact on our profit margin. Nevertheless no one likes to waste money irrespective of the profit they make. I had the luxury to work directly under 3 CEOs in my life and I've yet to meet someone who was simply happy with the profits they got and didn't attempt to cut waste to try and increase that profit margin.

I didn't cherry pick anything. Merely quoted. Regardless, anyone can go back and see the posts for themselves. Hypocrisy at its finest.

I wasn’t talking about you. And yes, people should go back and see my posts before calling me a Jose fanboy directly or indirectly. Hence, the catty reply. Or should I recap all of my posts every time I post? Just because I’m not willing to believe everything news papers say doesn’t make Jose in, it means I want more than just to take someone’s opinion as a fact.

Jose staying or going I don’t care. As I’ve stated many times at this point, I don’t trust Woodward to replace him. So when you say I’m biased judging by my posts exactly how is “only if you can’t read basic English” an insult and not a statement of fact?

There’s far too many people getting super butt hurt because others aren’t taking newspapers at their word anymore. I mean how many years in a row are we gonna be linked to all the big names in world football every transfer window before people start to see it? How many stories of “war chests” and “crisis talks” and “major fallouts” before we stop using the mirror as window into the clubs inner workings?

So for the last fecking time, I want Woodward out of his position before Jose. That’s it. Im not for Jose, I’m against Woodward. And no amount of “but according to sources” is gonna change that.

I want them both out. As I've said before, Woodward is here to stay. Unless we all gather a few rich red fans and build a GoFundMe page to raise £4billion to buy the club back.

Get a few celebrity reds, businessman reds, ex-footballers, everyday fans. We then buy the club back.

Reddy Rederson can take the lead until he runs off to Bangladesh with the £4 billion pot.

Mourinho should stay. His the best man for the job. The club, players, staff etc is nowhere near the standards we used to have during SAF's time. It takes time building the club up again and Mourinho is the man for the job. He needs to be trusted 100% in the market though. Good news the club is discussing the appointment for a DOF with Mourinho.

100% he should stay. he has made some errors with his mouth but overall, im 100% behind him.

this mess we are in, is due to the club and the board and especiallly Mr Woodward.

Oh go on! Did Ed Mess up the team selections and defensive tactics?

No he's not. He's had plenty of time already.

Reguadless I don't think the money is wasted in terms of transfer fee as the assets are being built. It's the managers who are mis managing those lot tactically and not getting the best out of them. We dint spend to win the title that's for sure, but we should have stayed second ad well and that's on mourinho.

Well he should target better midfielders than Matic and Fellani in that case. It's been 3 years our midfield has not settled down on a perfect partner to pogba.

Do you trust him to suddenly change his mindset towards success and help develop the current set of young players we have?

Rashford - is Mourinho the man push him scoring more consistently?
Martial - is Mourinho the man to lead him becoming that Ballon D'or winner that Man Utd have a clause on?
Shaw - is Mourinho capable of turning Shaw into England's number one left back?
Fred, Andreas Pereira - can he get these players into the high performing players they are capable of being?

We have players like Greenwood, Laird, Gribbin, Tuanzebe, Fosu-Mensah, Gomes and more. Is Mourinho ballsy enough to turn them into top performers.

His track record is questionable. He's not able to win unless everything is tailor made. I just don't think he's going to cut it for us.

Here's how I see it:

(a) Work on developing the potential of many of our current players and spend £150 on top for essentials and challenge for the league.

or

(b) Just paper over the crack and throw big money (another £300 million plus) and still be in the same position in 3 years. Realise that Liverpool have now the same amount of titles as us.

Which scenario would you choose?

We desperately need a positive coach who sees half a glass full rather than seeing negativity. Mourinho is proving it week in week out, he's everything Man Utd isn't.

It does take time to build the club up but a manager who only thinks short term and falls out with everyone isn’t the man for the job.

Mourinho is the guy brought in to win you trophies quickly, if he fails to do that then it’s pointless. The club needs to rebuild, needs a new structure and style of play and Mourinho is actually a really poor choice to do that, especially as he has been here three years already.

Pop quiz. Name a manager that successfully rebuild a team.

Don't disagree with any of this, but it is an opinion, one we share.

But the original poster was not "Flat out dismissing everything you hear unless confirmed by the club" he/she was questioning what the source was, which should be encouraged.

My post was calling you out for suggesting people dismiss searching for facts and verified sources, and suggesting you were better placed to read what was going on at the club than some others. People should always question where the information they are reading as true has come from.

I think you need to read the exchanges fully. That poster was being extremely obtuse. Sources will never be publicly named. So in asking for facts and sources he was looking for a cheap way to win his argument. Basically saying if we couldn't prove it with facts or sources then it never happened. That's obviously not the case. Things do happen. And most things that happen are not publicly confirmed.

Of course this gives leeway to journalists to stretch the truth. We know that. A lot of what's written is made up. It's usually pretty obvious when it is. Most of what's written in the tabloids isn't even expected to be true by anyone with a brain. But a lot of what is written turns out to be true also. There are still plenty of journalists with good contacts and Woodward himself has been known to brief them when he wants something to come out.

We're basically left with 3 options. Dismiss everything that comes out as lies (that posters approach), believe everything they write is correct or use the information at hand to assess their plausibility. I think people who pay attention to manager quotes, player agent quotes, journalists, team selections, former players etc are better placed to asses the plausibility or stories that come out than people who don't pay attention. This should be obvious. I don't see why you feel the need to "call me out" for saying something that should be self evident.

Some people here want Conte:wenger:. Poor man's Mourinho.
Mourinho is the right man for this job. Give him 2 players in next transfer window and we will win something maybe even this season. And one more thing. Of all top managers in big clubs, he is the one who is playing with the most youth players.
Rashford, Shaw, Martial are playing every match plus sometimes Mctominay and Pereira. So much about youth myth.
How much players are promoting Sarri, Pep, Valverde, Allegri, Klopp, Poch...?

Hate for Mourinho here is unreal. Nearly equal as in newspapers.

There is a reason why we are not doing well. Jose! Whether our fans believe it is Woody, Jose or a combination of both, i can't believe that so many of our fans can't see that jose has divided us. Some players seem to be with him and some are not. And it shows on the pitch. All of our rivals at the top of the PL have hired managers that get the players to play their way no matter how strict the regime is, no matter how different it is to previous styles, and are all united as one. They play for their coach and club crest with all the passion and confidence that they possibly can, and their fans love them.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion on Jose but hearing people say he is the best man for the job and he deserves time is madness to me. What has given people that opinion.? Hes had alot of money to spend in his tenure, and some have already left the club (Mkhitaryan) because they hated his style and/or didnt fit his style. Some have been benched because Jose cant get the best out of them (Bailly and now Lukaku and also Lindelof until some better recent form). Then there is Fred who has deserved to play more as our midfield have been poor, Matic has been awful, Pogba' form has been poor, (another 2 of Jose' signings!) And yet we all know what these players are capable of. They are not poor players, they all perform like beasts for their countries but not for us. It is Joses job to get the best out of them! Giving Jose more money or time here is madness. The board seem happy with mediocrity here at UTD and unfortunately so do some of our fans.

Same here, man.
Which is why I still say we need to hold onto Jose, until a suitable candidate is found.
There is no point in letting him go, to replace him with Carrick or someone who has never won a trophy before.
For those who like attacking football, Wenger would be great, but don't expect to win the league.

Most times he divides clubs. It happened at both Chelsea and Inter. The fact that it’s happened here, and people are not only surprised, but looking for some other cause for the divide is astounding.

You can't win the league without being entertaining. They go hand in hand. Entertaining meaning scoring lots of goals and playing attacking football.
I don't know why we act like its one or the other. The best football is the winning football and you don't win PLs by being a boring team. We've won no league titles in the last 5 years by being boring. So yes the next manager must be an attacking one.

I can’t believe so many fans believe the gutter press and point fingers where they can not ultimately know for sure. First it was moyes, then it was lvg now it’s Jose. When do we ever look past the soap opera that’s played out in the media and consider that it’s more than just the manager? But let’s say it was just the manger. Doesn’t three managers in a row that are divisive and shit suggest that whoever is hiring these managers hasn’t got a clue what they are doing?

What I don’t understand is that people can have so little faith in man who has been successful, thinking he can’t turn things around, but that a man who has picked three dud managers in row will get it right the forth time.

Take out the specifics of your post, and everything you said was also said about lvg. So it’s either not the managers, or it is and woody keeps choosing them. Either way, woody needs to be moved on first because whoever our next manager is, I’d like someone that has a clue to assess and interview him/her.

Jose won't fire himself and that's the real problem for Jose Out brigade. The ball will always be in Woodward's and the board's court as they have their responsibilities.

As for the division, correct me if I'm wrong but majority supporters these days are pretty much united in final solution which is sacking the manager, firing Woodward from football duties and appointing a DoF. Perhaps people just want United to win and happens to be Mourinho is the manager so they go with the flow and support the entire team on matchdays.

Next manager better be really good or this whole Jose Out idea will be just another Groundhog Day for the club, for years to come.

Whether our fans believe it is Woody, Jose or a combination of both, i can't believe that so many of our fans can't see that jose has divided us.

It's called civil war and yes, I do agree that Jose has managed to do this.
Any other manager would've been fired by now, but because Jose is an elite level manager capable of doing great things, he is being given a lot of lee-way by fans and the board.
I accept that if a lesser manager was in his 3rd year and he was in 10th or 8th, he'd probably have been fired.

The board seem happy with mediocrity here at UTD and unfortunately so do some of our fans.

They are not happy with mediocrity. They are happy with top 4.
Their plan is to keep getting top 4, while spending the least amount of money (wages and transfer fees) and at this time, they feel that Jose is the best person to be able to achieve this.
They also understand the frustration which Jose has (ie. they don't want to win the title, while he does and they are not releasing the funds that he sees necessary to win the trophies he wants to win), which is why, again, they are giving him a lot of lee-way.

There shitter than when he got here. So he’s better off actually sticking to what he does best. Don’t play them. He might have actually bored us to a title by now.

What do you base this theory on? We've spent loads of money in recent years, including a world-record transfer fee. We've given players better contracts left and right; we currently have the highest wage bill in the world. How can this possibly indicate that the board's goal is to spend as little as possible?
