I do find it bizarre that some fans have been convinced we can't play good football until the board are gone. If they bring in a progressive manager instead of one out of his depth like Moyes, and two past their prime, I see no reason as to why we can't play some good stuff. Especially as we've seen the board will give said manager money to spend.
OT will now roll out the bed carpet for Mourinho. I can't really be top critical being an armchair fan but I'm not for it.
I'm a match going fan and I'm not for it either. I don't think it's fair to say those who don't go to games aren't allowed opinions on the matter. Especially when they're great posters themselves like yourself.

Well this has turned on it's head. From what I'm seeing match going reds are going all out in support of Mourinho. A manager who's had players bought for a few hundred million pounds but will probably select a big midfield at home today to contain Diame's height.

He's responsible for tactics, negative.
He's responsible for squad harmony, in shatters.
He's responsible for public comments on the squad, negative.
He's responsilbe for training, no one can see any direction there. No pressing, attacking patterns.
He's responsible for team selection, risk averse, always thinking how to stop the other team, no hint of a settled first team.

I can't believe fans are going to use this opportunity to side with him. I know Ed has done poorly in the wage structure, selection of manager and the direction of this football club, but giving support to the most negative manager I've ever seen here is bonkers.

I know Moyes and van Gaal also brought boring football, but the level of investment Mourinho has seen and still being nowhere close to resembling a good attacking team is too much for me. He has to go now, a big part of the problem lies with him, this squad is capable of better than we're seeing today.

This post is absolutely correct especially the bolded part. Unfortunately most of our fans think that unless Mourinho buys Perisic and Alderweireld, we cannot resemble a decent football team. He even gave Fellaini a 2 year extension ( Again his own decison and priority).

Liverpool for instance manage to play good football with avegrage players like Wignaldum, Lovren, Oxlade Chamberlain, Milner etc in the starting line up but Manchester United can't because our boss has not been given another 150 million to spend.

When will certain fans realise that our pains and discontent from a footballing perspective( negative, bland football) IS ALL ON MOURINHO and not Woodward.

Granted Woodward has his own failings but the bolded part of the post above is not on him. It is the incompetence of the Manager that is making us looking very poor as a unit and unable to execute even the most basic of football demands.

No matter how much Woodward is blamed, he cannot teach the Manager how to build squad cohesion and football identity. What the hell is Mourinho paid for then???

Am I the only one finding it ridiculous how many fans are behind Mourinho?

It’s absurd. Our fans are just as complicit in our demise as every other party. They care more about “Stand by your manager” and “down with player power” than the team actually performing. Once again Mourinho is going to receive thunderous applause when he steps out of the tunnel, while our players all devoid of confidence go out there to face a more well drilled Newcastle team, safe in the knowledge that if things go bad, the fans will boo them and not the manager.

How about team performing but not having so much power? He needs to go, that's obvious but the club is a mess and saying fans are complicit in the demise is just silly.
If things go south in the game players won't care much.

Why do you say they won’t care much? This is their career as well. You really think they don’t want to do well? There’s a difference between not caring and not being able to do better within the scope of your circumstances with the manager. I have yet to see any lack of effort from our players in the last few games.

And yes, the fans have been complicit. I can never forget Moyes smug face as he walked out to a stadium full of applause, while he led us down to seventh place. Vangle should have been tossed out during his winless run when it was clear that we were going nowhere. Our fans never show any displeasure at the managers when they are the ones where the buck should stop, instead directing ire only at the players, so yes, they are as complicit as anyone else.

Unchanged team from last weekends debacle. He doesn’t give a feck. Just wants his compensation.

Fans don't sack managers so no they are not complicit. Not complicit and certainly not complicit as anyone else. As for the players lack of effort is evident.
Are you a match going fan?

For his McTominay obsession alone, yes. Get rid. Took him long enough to figure out Valencia was finished as well.

Fans can voice their opinions, especially with our CEO who is as influencable as woody seems to be, that’s what I meant. If the fans actually showed that they were upset then perhaps the club would be quicker to act.

No I’m not a match going fan. I go to matches when I can when I’m in England, but I’m not a regular.

What I saw over the last few games was not a lack of effort, but a lack of a plan and a lack of confidence.

He moaned about the lack of technical ability and goes and sticks McTominay in the starting line-up instead of Fred and Pereira. My hatred for Mourinho grows by the minute.

Wasn't backed... Look at his signings. Fred the invisible.

Wouldn't give him two pence to spend.

Should be his last game regardless of result. I hope for a win anyhow so that he leaves us in a decent place for the next manager -- hopefully just 6 points off Liverpool (assuming City beat them).

If Jose is still managing us after the international break, it could get real ugly. Hope the board have enough sense to pull the trigger during the break, it's the best window of opportunity we have.

Should 100% get fired for starting McTomminay in a must win game ahead of Fred (his 50m signing!) and Perreira

He's lost it

If Jose remains after the international break has come and gone, Redcafe will have officially entered meltdown mode. It will not be pretty.

But still, bring popcorn and beer.

Tbh I saw both. Atmosphere has been muted for a while so I don't think Ed doesn't see it. It certainly wasnt all clapping and happy. It was similar with LVG. I don't think Ed didn't act quicker cause fans weren't unhappy imidiately.

I really wonder what goes through Ed’s mind sometimes, what he seems as good and not good

I agree that it has been a bit quieter than usual over the past few games, but my initial post was more referencing the fact that a load of people have come out saying that they’re going to give an overwhelming show of support to Mourinho today. That, I just cannot understand.

Yet, we are tenth because we did not sign Alderweireld. Wake up and smell the coffee.
Mourinho's signings

  1. Bailly, Matic, Pogba and Lukaku start.
  2. Lindelof, Fred and Alexis on the bench.
  3. Grant and Dalot don't make the squad, with a converted winger playing at right back instead.
  4. Mkhitaryan and Zlatan no longer at the club.

None of the four signings made in 2018 start today.

Why do people make posts like this?

I'm willing to bet @Tibs is not Pep Guardiola's Cafe account, in which case what possible claim to the tactical expertise necessary to assert this is there?

This kind of logic is also in the media, there was a guy on ESPN last night thinking the final straw (when they concluded he'd be sacked) was Jose not answering a question in yesterday's press conference. Strange, but sign of the times I suppose.

Mourinho is looking for the sack with this team he has named. He is the one putting it up to Woodward to sack him.

If we don't win today, after a good draw of games, we will be at least five points behind Bournemouth with an inferior goal difference after eight games. Let that sink in.

So apparently according to distance covered stats in the last 6 years, we were 15th, 5th, 5th, 20th, 19th, 19th in the league table. This clearly shows that under Mourinho we are being setup too defensively and too deep. It's not that players are lazy and not trying for Mourinho, a passive LvG's side covered more distance than under Mourinho, it's Mourinho lack of pressing tactics and preference to parking the bus that's causing us harm.

Reports here Mourinho is getting the sack at 19.30

Anything of the sort back in the UK?

So what's the point of McTominay? Isn't Fred a midfielder? Why is he not being played?

Good God you actually tied Grant to your Mourinho-beating stick too.

What are you thinking??

We're playing one of the worst teams in the league at home and he's starting Matic and McTominay together. Tells you all you need to know about his mentality and what we have to look forward to whilst he remains manager. No thanks. Sooner he's gone the better.

Is it ? I have been doubting that for a while. Everything points the contrary, that he doesn't trust him and that means he didn't want him from the start.

Starting matic and mctominay in a home game against a team that not even won a game yet while leaving Andreas and Fred on the bench

Playing young over Dalot

Persisting with Lukaku
