The MMA thread

Every time I see Overeem, I get flashbacks of Chuck Liddell knocking him out.
About 5years before my mma following time (just looked on wiki)

Never even knew it happened :nervous:

I did know Overeem was a light heavyweight though. But I always thought Chuck was almost exclusively in UFC. Didn’t know he fought for Pride

He fought in the Pride tournament as a representative of the UFC. Iirc, he lost to Rampage in the next round. Those were the days, crazy ass Pride tourneys.

He didn't really fight for pride. When the UFC was second fiddle, UFC and Pride agreed to do cross promotions. Chuck entered their MW tournament (I think) and got KTFO'd, and then Pride fecked the UFC over and didn't send anyone back, lol.

fecking hell this is violent

Eddies face is brutal, but he is winning this fight. Wish it was 5rounds

Gaethje alsways said it would happen. He takes way way too much damage

He can’t keep fighting that way

Not to hate on these guys, but jesus christ, and that is who the champion was. Tough, but not exactly top tier fighting skills. Dude just lost 5 years of his life right there lol.

Great fight between two warriors. Gaethje might have lost the fight but he’s made plenty of new fans. Feck me, Eddie can’t even speak properly with his cheek like that.

The ufc put this together. Advertised it as a war. Did a TUF.

They knew what the people wanted and they delivered. But yeah it was reckless

Wish joe never mentioned Conor there cos it’ll sound like I’m just repeating,

But basically Cejudo’s standing work is pretty much identical. He has to have taken that from McGregor

Very disappointing from Pettis jnr. And a piss poor fight

In fairness I never thought Pettis was a realistic challenger either way.

Maybe a Cejudo rematch is for the best
