The Manchester Title Race

As we sit and celebrate todays events, let us remember we are also celebrating Easter. That time a little over 2000 years ago when some guy came back to life. It's going to take a miracle of that size and type for City to come back from this position..

Mind you, something similar happened at Christmas this year, Paul Scholes returned.
Amen! :D

Just relax and savor the next 6 games, our triumphant and unstoppable march to No 20, hopefully secured at Watselands.

Shiity are shot, wasted, finished. remind me of ourselves in 1990/91 when we bottled it to lose to Blackburn.

To lose the title, we need a credible contender ..... Yaya subbed with an injury, Ballotelli imploding with a red card, Tevez the player who only plays when he wants to and Mancini publicly telling his squad they are not not good enough .... I would hate to be in that shitty dressing room right now or indeed on there training pitch in the next few days.

Sometimes a bubble just bursts and you see the cold light of day .... much like we did vs Barcelona in the CL final last year. For shitty its over and I can't see any other contenders.

If we lose from here, then we really should sack Fergie and sell Giggs. But we won't, because they know what it takes, as so so many others at our beautiful football club.

Leeds.

I can hear the faint warblings of a fat female singer warming up for a gig in Manchester, however the venue hasn't been confirmed yet, and we've got some work to confirm where it will take place. Till then, let's take one game at a time.

two very funny posts...to me anyway.

I'm nervous still as a couple of draws and City will be back in it. We must keep the pressure on and take our chances. We had so much of the play today against QPR but only scored 2 goals one of which shouldn't have been.

City will only be back in it if we draw a few games, while they win all theirs.

I can't see that happening. We may drop a few points, but they will drop points too. They've still to play Norwich and Newcastle away, plus us at their ground.

Me personally, I can't see us bottling it that much where we drop 8 points in 6 matches.

I think if City don't win the title this year, they may not for a while. This year was their best chance as we have some young players we are working in to the team, we have had horrendous injuries and we have no midfield (;). We will surely be better next season and so will Arsenal and Chelsea. I think City have blown their chance (fingers crossed).

and we owe them an ass kicking. can't wait. hope SA has us pressing them as that's the only way we'll beat them (if they're pressing us). if they play us soft, like they did arse today, they'll be playing right into our hands.

Not over yet. Obviously beating Wigan is a step nearer but it's not definitive. Could Wigan do the unthinkable and win a point or three from us? They've been playing well recently. If we win, it could be the last time we play them for a long time.

City should win at least two of their three games before the derby. Still plenty of interest.

It's definitely not over yet.. The potential gap is only 5 points (as one of the remaining games is against City) with the goal difference at the moment (if it goes to that) is in City's favor..

We all want to celebrate, but we can wait a bit longer for that.. We can smell it, yes, but no need for premature wanks right now..

Next game is Wigan away..

Our goal difference is 2 better than theirs... it won't come down to that anyways. We have to lose half of our games and they have to win all of theirs in order for us to lose the title pretty much. I don't think we will lose 3 out of Wigan, Everton, Villa, City, Swansea and Sunderland, with 3 of those at home as well. City would have to win every game from here on out as well, which if you really look at eachothers form there is only one winner. We are in great form, 8 wins on the trot and City have just gone 3 games without a win.

Yes, now. But if it goes down to goal difference, then we'll have to lose two games and draw one, which even if we do by a single goal margin (in all of them), with City winning with a single goal margin as well, means City will have the edge again on goal difference.. Not saying though that's the likeliest scenario now..

I'm not saying we're not big favorites, but to call the race over is a bit premature now in my opinion...

I can appreciate the 'don't count your chickens' mentality. However, this is about as close as you can get to the title without winning it.

No team has ever come back from an 8 point lead with 6 to play, so it would take a historic collapse, as well as a miraculous reinvigoration of City's game. Taking into account their form and ours, 9/10 neutrals will say it's over, only United supporters will be nervous, the rest will expect us to do what we do.

I'm not saying it's 100% over, but it's certainly a day to celebrate.

If we lose one between now and the derby, and City win all theirs, we'd be 5 points ahead going to the Etihad. I certainly wouldn't want to lose there and then go in to the final 2 games only 2 points ahead. Having said that, I honestly believe City have just given up at this stage.

Anyone think WBA might actually get a result against them as well? Pretty sure WBA have the third best away record in the league..... All will depend on how deep City's implosion is going to go

Possibly. They looked unstoppable at home for a while, but Sunderland showed that teams can now get at them at the Etihad as well.

I'm much more relaxed after City lost today; if they dropped points to West Brom I'd be a Rastafarian.

It should be over, especially with City's away form but a team with their ability could easily go on a six game winning streak.

so, the max they can get is 89 and we need 11 to beat that, assuming they win all their remaining games - which is highly unlikely.

what's the record number of pts? - didn't Chav$ki get 90+ ???

95 is the current record.

95 is the record. I don't think we'll get it personally, but for a side which many have said is one of Fergie's worst, to come close at all is a major achievement in itself.

hmmm.....bit of a tall order. Means we have to get 16 from 18 pts. Maybe if we needed the pts......

was that in Jose's 1st season or the one after?
