The LVG is a fat-headed stubborn arrogant fatso thread

Thinking United were too slow and then subbing in Blind and Fellaini

Sold Hernandez, Evra, Zaha, Evans, Nani, & Rafael, & in the main bought badly to replace them.

Also bought & sold ADM (who could have been great for us) in the space of year, after making a mess of it.

But won us the FA cup, and I'm not sure his football was any more uninspiring than we are seeing now, just Mourinho is better at getting results with it.

Once blamed Murphy's law for United's loss to Midtjylland

I'd shake the guys hand and thank him for winning us the FA Cup if I met him, i'd probably apologise for how my club treated him straight after winning it as well, but hey ho it's history...

In all honesty I’d shake his hand but no way would I apologize. Then I’d moan at him for playing the worst brand of football ever seen at united

I'll never forgive him for flogging some of my favourite players & protecting Waynetta. Still, I kinda like Louis...he was more entertaining than his team.

1. Sold Hernandez for missing a penalty

2. Sold Van Persie out of nowhere and didn’t even give him a send off

3. Refused to buy Falcao

All to make sure Wayne Rooney was his one and only star striker who played game after game despite being absolute dogshit till Rashford’s debut bailed him out in the second half of the season.

Was it 15/16 when United had all these 0-0's? At some point I was betting on 0-0's and actually winning money.

Some of the shit we serve up now is just as bad as Van Gaal's worst.

That's just not true ffs.

You think we've had anything under Mourinho as bad as not having a shot on target against a League one side at home until a 92nd minute penalty?

Or going about 12 games in a row without a first half goal?

I think people have forgotten just how bad it was under Van Gaal.

Made watching United an absolute bore.

(People saying Mourinho's style is boring have very short memories. We actually get multiple shots on target these days and win matches comfortably)

I think you give some people too much credit. There are a significant amount of people that enjoy the team having 70% possession while passing between the defenders and midfielders for the whole game. They wank over those goals that take 10 minutes of passing to make, and think that defensive organisation is something only footballing peasants should do.

Why do you think the Italian national team is so polarizing?

SAF bought on Anderson to win the CL Final.

Anderson was at that time one of the brightest midfield prospects in the world and was also playing very good for us after joining the club. This is a horrible comparison.

A rare one I always remember is Rafael marking Drogba at corners in a game back in Oct 2014.

No prizes for guessing who put Chelsea 0-1 up with a header from a corner...

I don't think thats why he got rid of Falcao, RVP and Hernandez, he didn't rate Hernandez or value that type of striker. RVP could have been useful but his form was bad in 14/15 and he was 100% right to get rid of Falcao. He was shit for us and Chelsea the season after.

And Rooney wasn't his one and only striker he actually did sign and play Martial up front for most of the season. He didn't get rid of options so he would have to play Rooney he just made a mistake by putting too much faith in Rooney. Rooney was awful until Xmas, his form picked up in the new year but too late for us to do anything in the league. And then he got injured for 6-8 weeks, by the time he came back Rashford had taken his place.

I don't like defending Van Gaal's transfer dealings because he had a nightmare and made a clusterfeck out of the squad, but his transfers in/out were not done for the reasons you are suggesting in my opinion.

Bringing through Rashford
Signing Martial
Converting Valenica to RB full time
Extending Young's usefulness
Bringing through Lingard
4-2 win over City and best performance Utd put at Anfield in a generation
Winning the FA Cup

Yes. He did some good things and his sacking leaking just after the FA cup was a disgrace.

I give him credit. He came at a horrible time. But he had big enough personality and he actually had a gameplay, albeit a boring and outdated one. He stuck to his plan and I give him credit for that as Moyes left us a laughing stock and he brought us back some credibility.

I think he was absolutely ruthless when it came to selling players and kind of put United on the back foot a squad fergie had formed over years.
No way should have Zaha, Nani, Rafael or Evans been sold, the worse was that he got rid of RVP and Hernandez when we needed goals in our team badly.

Jose would loved, Nani, Zaha, Rafael and RVP in his squad at United. United hasn't got a better wing currency then Nani and thats facts

He saw us play well in a group of games against good opposition towards the end of the first season. He made me feel quite optimistic about season two. In the pre-season for season two he ignored everything we'd seen in season one, and discarded the progress we'd made. In season two, instead of making us better, he made watching us a miserable experience.
We dominated and beat City, Liverpool and Spurs and only a Mourinho masterclass stopped us in our first season with him. Then that stupid speech of his "We go for it!" got me really pumped up for the next season.

This was it for me. Things looked promising towards the end of his first season but the following pre-season was so poor and took my confidence away. Rooney was horrendous in every pre-season game and was just as bad in the proper games. After his performance away to Villa I thought surely he'll be dropped but nope, and that's when I was LvG out.

I still don't know why he abandoned the 4-3-3 that had us outplaying the better teams in the league. I remember thinking all we needed was an upgrade up front for Rooney, an upgrade on the left for Young and a class CM, and we'd be good to go for season 2, but he just completely scrapped everything instead.

Played Di Maria as a striker
I remember that game against Southampton. We had Rooney and van Persie on the pitch and still played di María up front. I actually remember thinking we had played well that game but Mata missing 3 golden chances ultimately cost us.

Coffee addiction.

Starbucks probably paid him some money for the increase in business during his reign.

He didn't stick to his plan though...that was the problem. He was selling players HE had signed less than a year after signing them, changing his formation every 2 weeks. Changing what player could play where every 2 weeks. You can pick any one of about 10 players who's position he completely changed overnight about 3 or 4 different times.

Remember when in pre-season he suddenly, for no reason, declared that Januzaj would be a striker from now on, and played him as one...then the season started, and the second game in, he decided, for no reason, that Januzaj was our first choice no10. Then by the end of August he'd changed his mind again and didn't want hm at all. This was typical of him. No one had a clue what he was fecking doing, including, I suspect, him.

LVG is a maths teacher who'll come in one day and tell you 2+2=7, and because he thinks it does, nothing you or anyone else can say or do will convince him otherwise, and he'll force you to base all of your calculations on it. Then on Thursday he'll suddenly come in and swear bllind that 2+2=5, and suggest you're an idiot for saying it equals 7.

I really wish these threads would stop, especially this one classless, LvG is gone, history, never to return, lets move on. There are enough divided opinions about him and the one half will not convince the other about their way of thinking or the impression they have of the man. It is the same discussion we have about Mourinho, enough never wanted him here and are still not convinced of him after last season and others see him as the saviour of our club. Should just agree to disagree and move on.
