Right, so the season kicks off tomorrow officially. This is the thread you can use in May next year to prove that your wild theories and assumptions were correct.

I will go first...

United will win the league this season.

The 3-5-2 will be a huge success, we'll win the FA Cup and finish 3rd in the league.

Our league form from Christmas onwards will be title winning form, but until then we will struggle. Not really a bold statement but I think it'll be the case.

We'll win the champions league loool

Seriously though, we'll finish second and lose out on the premier league by a single point.

We will Overpay for a player either now or in january who we struggle to fit into the side in their correct position.

Kagawa is more effective than mata. ooooooooo

  • Tottenham will finish 7th.
  • Stoke (my team) will finish 8th.
  • Liverpool will win a domestic cup.
  • Man Utd will end the season trophyless.
  • Barcelona will win the Champions League.
  • Southampton really won't do as badly as everyone expects (personally think the bottom half of the league is the weakest it's been in a very long time).
  • Neither Ronaldo or Messi will win the Balon D'Or

Van Gaal will leave next summer due to lack of ambition and funds from the club.

Welbeck+1 will be more effective than Roo-RVP duo.
Shaw will be great wingback.
We will finish 4th, fighting with Liverpool until the end.

Young will end up being an important player for us this season
Tony Pulis will become manager of one of the promoted teams and lead them to safety.
Suarez will do something controversial in his first El Classico
FCBarca will defend Suarez blindly after said incident
We will buy someone out of the blue come deadline
Lord Bendtner will lead Wolfsburg to Europa League glory becoming top scorer in the progress

We'll scrape fourth, if we buy 3 or more players.

We won't win a trophy.

Liverpool will get knocked out of the Champions League in the group stage.

Chelsea will win the league by more than 10 points.

By next May, people will have run out of patience with Jones.

Rooney will score more than Van Persie.

Welbeck will score less than 7 goals.

Real Madrid will retain the Champions League.

Cavani. Panic buy to please Muppets and sponsors. Sept. 1st.

(Only because Brendon Rodgers being found out is already taken)

LVG will be sacked for not finishing in the top 4*

*depends on what happens from now and the end of the transfer window.

  • We will have our most enjoyable season in a while, challenging, but not winning the league despite some great moments and Football
  • Man City will feck up this year
  • Arsenal will beat us at Old Trafford
  • Chris Smalling will be recognized as one of the best in the league by May
  • Bayern Munich will win back the Champions League
  • We will win by a huge scorline against one of out fellow top 6 (I'm talking 5 or 6 nil)
  • Liverpool will have another good season, finishing in the top 4 and winning a cup
  • This will be Wenger's last season at Arsenal
  • Welbeck will be recognized as a really top player by May
  • Southampton will be top 10 again despite the Summer exodus
  • Everton will have their best season in years, again challenging for the top 4, doing well in the cups and in Europe

We'll finish in the top 3!

Welbeck will step up another level!

Spurs and Liverpool will disappoint!

Almost all our players will improve!

Fellaini will elbow a player every couple of games!

Herrera and Mata will be our best players!

RvP will score at least 20 league goals!

Costa will be PL's top scorer!

Fabregas will disappoint!

Mourinho will keep moaning about Hazard!

PSG will win the CL!

Ashley Young will make the PFA Team of the Year.
Rooney and Welbeck will be our first choice strikers.
Blackett will make over 20 starts for us in the coming season.

We will comfortably finish in the top 4, as well as winning the FA Cup.

Why do you think you'll finish 8th? Genuinely interested.

Not only do I think we can, but I think we should. (Not saying I'd be really disappointed with anything between 9th and 13th though).

Last season we ended up 9th. The only team above us who we can realistically see ourselves as a competitive rival for positions is Southampton, can't exactly expect to be challenging Everton, Tottenham and whichever laughing stock ended up in 7th (their name escapes me ;) ) for league places.

So yeah, Southampton were the only team that finished above us if you discount the top clubs, and they've been stripped of all their best players and not improved their team one bit. Meanwhile we've added some really exciting players; Bojan, who's had an excellent pre season; Diouf, who you lot could probably tell me more about but has done well in Germany and adds quality to a position that has previously been occupied by the likes of Peter Crouch, Kenwyne Jones and a rapidly declining Ricardo Fuller (who I can assure you was bloody brilliant in his prime and forever a club legend for it); Steve Sidwell who adds great quality in depth in midfield and has been one of Fulham's better players for a number of years; Phil Bardsley who will fill a position that hasn't been a strong point of our squad for a long time (as much as I love Geoff Cameron, I think Bardsley is definitely an upgrade). Also added an unknown, young Brazilian defender called Dionatan Teixeira, but I've not a clue who he is.

Newcastle and Crystal Palace were the two that finished behind us. I think Newcastle have made a couple of good signings, but also lost a couple of their best players recently so I think we have a better squad and a much better manager than them. Palace have just lost the best manager in the bottom half of the table who was also the only reason they're playing in the top flight in 2014-15 so they're nothing to worry about.

Our squad is so much better than last season, any weak spots have now been covered and the excellent signings Hughes and Coates made before 2013-14 have now had a full season to bed in.

Our squad:

  • Begovic is one of the best keepers in the league, Butland is England's top young keeper
  • Bardsley and Pieters are good solid full backs, Shawcross is already a club legend and fully deserves an England call up, Muniesa showed great promise last year and has had an impressive pre season, Teixiera is an unknown quantity so we'll see if he can add depth while Huth (who I think will share the load with Muniesa as Shawcross' defensive partner) has good experience and is usually a trusted defender, he's also hilarious on Twitter if that counts for anything
  • N'Zonzi is a very talented player, tends to stick at walking pace but it doesn't really matter because he's good enough to be allowed that luxury. Whelan was seen as more of a squad player under Pulis, even though he played most games he was never seen as a particularly important member of the squad but Hughes turned him into a really really talented player, many even thought he was our player of the season last year. Adam splits opinions, many think he should go but I like him and he pops up with some great goals (Man Utd fans will know this). Ireland has rejuvenated his career in a Stoke shirt and has shown his Man City form a lot more than he's shown his Villa form, Cameron can cover in midfield and anywhere along the back four, he's a really good player (thought he was fantastic in USA's game against the Germans during the World Cup), rumours he may be leaving but I really hope not, think the same be bout Marc Wilson as I do about Cameron
  • As for forwards; I've spoken in detail about Bojan in the newbs but the general point of those posts is that the entire fan base is excited (myself included) and really hoping he shows us why he was so highly rated once, he's had an excellent pre season. Walters is always a useful squad player so he should stay, Crouch I think should go, he's not really needed but he'd be useful for depth should he stay. Diouf I've spoken about above, Odemwingie is brilliant and scored a lot of important goals last season and Arnautovic is a very exciting player when he can be arsed, he's inconsistent but has a lot of talent.
This post was a lot longer than I thought it'd be, and probably more than you can be arsed to read but I'm very excited about this season as you can probably tell. Hopefully I'm not getting my hopes up.

Ashley Young will be used as a striker and will score 20 goals in the league, then officially celebrate by finally changing his name to Smashley Young by deed poll.

De Gea will win the great gold boot and golden glove double.

@JamesB__

Good post mate. I'm an Everton fan so i'm in the dark as much about Diouf as you but he did have a good record in the Bundesliga. I suppose you'll be hoping that he can re-adapt to the PL and so too can Bojan for the goals. I didn't realise you finished 9th last season. I think Newcastle might nab 8th but it sounds as if you have a decent chance at it too, thanks.
