The Fourth RedCafe Sheep Draft

Incredibly underwhelming on the offensive front, as was that Inter team.

It works brilliantly in tandem with Baggio IMO.

That Inter team wasn't freescoring, agreed, but those AC-Inter games  them were the days... Clash of the Titans stuff with the Dutch and German contingents.

What if you defend deep and take the counter out of the equation.

No silly Sacchi high lines here.

Then you have a borefest with two sides not wanting to come out and play. It happened often enough in Serie A. 0-0, flukey 1-0 games.

Not a problem here as everyone seems to love 3-2-5 these days.

Matthaus, Neeskens, Baggio would be utterly lost with the ball at their feet whilst Kocsis probably won't have a clue about what to do in the box I reckon.

Aye

Swap Neeskens and Matthaus ffs!

I'm sending out killer bees as we speak. Can't let the hipsters have the Monaco win AND this.

Boring, the Neeskens-Baggio combination has already been done anyway!

This is some sort of weird overcompensation of the time he won a draft playing as a DM. Only explanation I can think of that is remotely sensible.
Can't understand your point, you're basing your argument on a non-existent foundation (when I decided that it was enough and I don't want to show the entire Joga's team in that post)

That isn't his best incarnation either.
Okay, now I'm baffled, it seems like we completely disagree on a player. What is?

Hierro ahead of Silva in that position, surely.

You would after the latest horror show by PSG. Hierro used to hold the Sammer role (my last reinforcement). I think that was when you left the caf for a while. The logic was it was a 4-4-1-1 without ball:

----------------Vieri
---------------Baggio
Boniek--Neeskens-Effenberg-Nedved
Abidal---Sammer---T. Silva--Ferrara
---------------Chilavert

Once in possession the spine shifted up a gear with Sammer occupying Neeskens' space as he moved into Baggio's and Baggio joined Vieri upfront.

I got bored of people talking about pace and how my high line would be destroyed with Hierro being glacial, Ferrara being slow, Abidal being crap (apparently), so once Sammer joined Thiago was the man to leave at the back.

Ideally it would have had the spine thing going on the right and end

---------Baggio------Vieri
Boniek------Neeskens------Nedved
--------Effenberg--Sammer
-----Abidal----Silva------Ferrara

But Viva had Breitnigge as one of his most compelling combinations so I preferred having Sammer-Neeskens on my left side.

Busiest days of the week for me joga, ideally I'd like a week day or at a push the sunday

Completely swamped on the weekdays mate, can only do Friday or Saturday or at a push late Saturday, with the game ending on Sunday if possible? Would the latter option be feasible for you?

Still like Joga's set up slightly better (apart from the keeper, obviously), but this is also nice. Baresi/Figueroa pairing gives him more quality with the ball, and it can be argued that Schweiny/Neeskens (and Matthäus somewhere near) are marginally better than Hierro/Tardelli with the ball too (same with fullbacks).

Agree, put Desailly next to Scholes and Kohler/Hierro is a tasty pair :)

Cheers mate :). Alas I'm leaning heavily towards starting Tardelli instead of Scholes due to the obscene quality of Onenil's attacking players, but I may reconsider my lineup when I'm drinking tomorrow .

I love Joga's team too. Baresi/Figueroa is pretty much unsurpassable in terms of quality, and agreed on his full backs offering more going forward, although I intentionally prioritised top-notch defensive full backs as I have two superb wingers ahead of them, particularly at right back where Matthews doesn't really need any support on the overlap.

Yeah, it wasn't a criticism - and both Maldini and Burgnich (especially) are pretty underrated as far as they ball skills go. Plus you have Cruyff instead of Matthäus as a #10, which gives you an edge offensively, so it makes perfect sense to close up shop at the back
