The Fourth RedCafe Sheep Draft

to be perfectly honest I'm happy with a player this round. It's a massacre especially with 21 managers in it.
Yeah. I just need to decide whether to gamble in turn 3 or play it safe. Obviously some big boys are going to slip through here.

I've just had the same dilemma.

Ended up going mid range

@Invictus I taped over the camera on my notebook, are you tapping my phone too?

Good point. I thought my reputation would ensure no one would go with Portugal. But I'm happy enough with this one. :D
Actually, isn't that what happened last sheep draft? You got CR somehow.

Can I choose on behalf of Boris in case he does not make the deadline again? Just to keep this ticking....
It's not important in this draft - we won't get the results earlier or later, that's the point behind the dedicated deadline

If everyone has sent their picks and me or antohan are online; we'll publish the results ASAP.

Edit: I suppose that's tricky with the Power Cards but we'll let you know how many are left to pick/give some time to decide whether to use them.

After over thinking my first two picks, I just poured some scotch and went with the first country I saw on a map for my third ;)

surely someone can help out boris until he gets online....plenty of free regulars out there.

Just noticed Tuppet is playing

Not for the time, but for the round...to avoid him getting kicked out of draft or getting a sheep, I meant.

I don't mind picking a country for him as I had 2 in mind and have already submitted mine

You can't have others submitting picks on behalf of absentees in a sheep draft - being absent is a potential factor in the game itself (see the OP).

Only way that's fair is if you appoint someone his official AM (or officially replace him as manager). And - again - what's the point, really. We've got enough managers. If he wants to play, he'll show, as anto said above.

Anyway, N-Ireland, eh? That does surprise me - was pretty sure at least a couple of managers would gamble on that one, and that someone had lucked out in P1.

I thought it might have been overlooked for the first round an then gambled on others thinking it had gon

Do the sheep reflect the quality of available players in the pool btw?

Like for this it's mostly going to be the countries best player that gets picked up. So will it be sheep as in a mediocre player that was the best player in his own country?

I actually gave it big thoughts in R1, but thought you'd be picking it.

I honestly never considered it. What I figured was something like this: Couple of boys go for Chile, couple of boys go for N-Ireland - roughly. So, either both get blocked - or maybe one lucks out and gets a GOAT. But it's a no-go as a gamble at any rate.

Ah, well - I was half right, at least.

Yeah I was convinced N.Ireland was one of the first round passes.

Well, I think that would be the natural/fair/not too evil way to go. As you say, the actual picks here will be the best player any given country has to offer.

But as Ed suggests, you can end up with something very sheepy nevertheless. The best players in many countries are seriously underwhelming.

Wouldn't make a difference if you get the best Chinese or Indian player

Yeah I was thinking more players that would definitely be a hindrance such as some of the other Asian countries.

I'm not bothered either way really just seems best to keep in fitting with the rest of the picks.

Knowing anto, I reckon he'll be looking for proper sheep, one way or the other - that is players people will recognize. Dishing out random "heavy" hitters from obscure football nations probably won't happen. More like players who are a bit shit given the context - but also a bit interesting (which could mean plain comical) in one way or another.
