The long wait is truly agonising. I find myself coming back every 30 minutes or so.
There's truckloads of options then really and it boils down to taste. It's the Europeans that surprised me and one standout one I 100% expected someone to pick.
Twelfth man? Not sure if you mean ensuring no sheep play or the importance of the referee/voters during the games.
You nailed it with twelfth - and any further hints would just obscure the matter, I think. I was referring to the importance of the twelfth man. The substitute. Which will be a sheep for some. For others, however, he could be more than that. I noticed in the last draft (the WC one) that hardly anyone actually used their sub in their tactics. You did, unless I'm mistaken - and I think I might avail myself of the same possibility. We have twelve players at our disposal. No sense in not using them - if they are any good, that is.
In which case, it still flabbergasts me that a certain two who always seem to be picked usually aren't taken.
We'll have to compare notes when the draft finishes, not sure we are talking about the same people.
And got punished for "completely changing" the side with a single sub.
This criteria is lavely
I keep saying "I'm very interested for this round" after every criteria is announced, but this is the most interesting yet!
Haven't really made an effort to think of players yet, so we shall see
Aye - but that is surely...bollocks: What's the sense in having a 12th man if you can't use him? I liked your approach back then. Of course the game changes - and as a virtual manager of a virtual football team, surely your task is to both affect and to deal with these changes. If the 12th man is just nominal - just another name in the bag, to be weighed against another name in the bag before the match begins, the very concept of a sub might as well be scrapped.
I never do that, only consider the subs relative to how the manager may use them, and ignore them if they are unused.
Yes - but the question is to what extent they are indeed ignored. And to what extent it is regarded almost as cheating if they're used. See the thing? You could in theory use a 12 man team to the fullest - pick 'em with the plan in mind that you're going to use them all. Which would be dramatically different to someone whose "sub" is just someone who didn't make the grade, who was a second choice in whatever position he might play in.
This has been a fun read. Great stuff Aldo!
Mwahahahahaha, I wondered if you would ever pick that up! Figured Brwned would have him in his radar though.
One I can't refuse?
A Clint Eastwood reference?
I thought you were going for a dirty Harry reference...Marlon Brando you mean, or else I have no idea where Clint Eastwood came from.

Yup, Baggio is useful. He was too good to pass, but downside is heavy tinkering with rest of picks. Still a gamble with him .

Really? With the Batigol reference earlier I thought you were quite clearly going with a 4-4-2 diamond or basically a narrow formation with a front two of Sheva-someone and Rui Costa pulling strings from a deeper role. And Baggio is pretty good for that role, better than most. You having Alonso also pointed to something similar as you would have him dictate the game from midfield with two proper workhorses doing the rest of the work.
Yeah, it will be interesting to see how others play out. If I can get the players I want, I'd go for a flat 4-man midfield with Gullit supporting a target man... Imagine getting van Basten in the last round
