Implying that you might go for 'him' is obviously no problem, because 'him' is still speculative. The Messi & Zidane 'him' talk was great and no one knew what was happening and everyone who thought he knew was clearly wrong. That's very different from Anto's bluff with Davids, imo. If someone wrote 'I go for the Argentine player who broke all scoring records recently' it's not fun anymore and even as a bluff it's wrong, imo. Leave room for speculation and you're fine. Describe a player in a way so that it's equal to writing his name, it's wrong. It doesn't matter if it's a bluff or not or if it's the 1st, 2nd or 3rd attempt.
Congrats for your successful pick by the way .
With likes of Messi, it is obvious every one has him in their mind. So if someone makes a declaration that he is going for him is fair enough since some one may still block him on purpose. Several things can happen in that scenario.
With likes of Brehme the issue is that for almost all, he won't be a player that they would waste their own pick for a block. I mean in last round, I could have hinted that I was picking Figo in round 2 and MJJ could have changed it to someone else. That could have led to us both avoiding sheeps. That defeats the purpose of the game though.
