We only picked him to block someone else. Never thought we'd get him

We were down to him + the guy we went for and thought both were equally likely to be blocked. Got lucky.

I'm assuming people are looking to fill different holes at this stage. Only way that explains some of the names that didn't get blocked to me.
I thought Zaheer would definitely be picked last round (the >100 wickets one).

You post a criteria.
For round 1:
I choose a player meeting the criteria.
If more than one person has chosen the player, the player gets blocked and goes into a block list, cannot be chosen again and the block list will be publicly announced at end of the round.
If only I choose the player, I get the player.
For round 2:
If the player I choose now has been previously chosen in round 1, I fail.
Block criteria same as round 1.
For round 3:
Same as round 2.
I get a sheep at this point if I do not have a player.

Correct. That's about it. Then at end of R3 all 'pass' picks are publicly revealed and sheeps are allotted. Since VanGaalEra's both picks for these round were Fail, you can see who those were in round 9,10 results above. All the blocks till now can be found in thread mark till round 8. That along with R9,10 criteria blocks you should keep in mind for choosing for R2 now.
Criteria 9,10 is kinda free criteria. Choose any 2 players nor chosen or blocked in previous criteria.
