The Fifth Redcafe Sheep Draft

DRAFTING OVER, FLOODGATES OPEN

Why did nobody pick Drogba in that last round?

Or Zidane like ever despite having a baldies round? @Gio actually started arguing his wife's case in T1 but not very well so missed the deadline, then chose not to pursue him as he was "obviously picked"

We did think of Drogba but didn’t want to play him over Lewa.. Nani gave us a winger that we lacked in the team

PUZZLE 4: We've already gone through the logic. The four players represent the month they were born in (June) and are stuck on the engine, inside a motorcycle. June is in a moto. I'm surprised so very few remember him, I actually thought "need some moto guy from Japan, Inamoto will work great, how do I get them to Jun'ichi?". Not as far fetched as you think since many were there or thereabouts:

Gio: John Obi Mikel (Lampard's engine, the others all starred at the u-20 World Cup)

Pat: Zlatan Ibrahimovic: I have no idea...been on a FIFA game cover, and has been known to ride a motorbike

Enigma: not sure yet what is it about apart from all four players born in June. Seems a bit of a dead end to me so far. Probably that Suzuki bike is the key...

prath: Takayuki Suzuki because he is born in June (June 5) like Messi (June 24), aguero (June 2) lampard (June 20) and Hernandez (June 1)? [KM: "wtf?"]

prath: Is the player Gary Lineker? 1. Golden boot in Mexico World Cup (Hernandez) 2. Played for Barcelona (Messi) 3. Played for England (lampard) 4. Hand of god goal by Maradona in game against him (aguero’s ex- relative) 5. Played in J- League (the Japanese bike)

mazhar: Xavi. The 4-stroke engine requires a spark to get the whole thing moving and keep it moving consistently. This is the equivalent of a midfield playmaker who ignites the whole team from the start and keeps them going in a consistent tempo. Who's a better fit for that role than Xavi himself?

idmanager: Cha Bum-Kun. Might have something to do with Hyundai (4 stroke) + Kun + Chicha which led me to him. He played for frankfurt, that is lampard I guess :D

idmanager: The answer for puzzle 4 is Kunishige Kamamoto

Lampard - all time scorer for chelsea
Aguero - City
Messi - Barca/Argentina
hernandez - Mexico

The bike - Suzuki is a Japanese company

All time scorer for Japan is Kunishige Kamamoto
Tell me that is not reasonable logic!

Kama-moto

[I fully expected him to get it in sudden death rather than bang on about how lost he was]

Poor fecker got neither picked nor blocked though.

While 8 people sent pictures of some old lady that spent tonnes on surgery, nobody even argued the case here:

:wenger:

Yeah, surprising. All the greatest CB/FB/CF have been targeted while some midfielders/playmakers would have been the welcome in this draft.

It's that bloody 3-5-2 love-in. Nobody wants Xavi in a two man midfield playing direct back and forth football.

If the picture round was earlier, I am sure Xavi would have been picked/blocked. By the time the round came, at least we were already set on our team and were targeting specific positions only

Aye, I only looked at wives of 4 centrebacks

@Pat_Mustard ?
ON a second thought, I would prefer to play on Thursday or later, we have an opening on Wednesday and I'd be quite busy until then. Preferably on Thursday so that we don't drag this further than we should

That was the idea. The logic was we didn't need to artificially restrict GOAT access because your needs would drive your agenda at that point so, the last few rounds (bar the last) were about having the flexibility to pick any position.

Wanted both of them at various points. Avoided Zidane in the bald round because it was too obvious and thought I’d get blocked.

Was searching for Xavi with the Bendtner round. The handshakes were cut off the only footage I could find though.

Whenever you want to get this over with @Gio is fine. Today, tomorrow, Monday, etc

A shame really. Sanfilippo-Abbadie is up there with the best pairings from the Copa round.

Thuram bringing along his own sheep really hurts there.

I was shocked Zidane was never picked. We got Platini early so he was never an option for us unfortunately. Xavi never seems to get enough credit in these draft games. It's weird, for my money Iniesta is the one would struggle to perform on the same level outside Barca/Spain system while Xavi is someone capable of making difference in any but it is often seen otherwise during draft match ups.

yet for some reason 8 of you kept banging on about Carlos Alberto. Funny thing is the only two that persisted in the next round couldn't pick him (invalidated by Djalma/Julinho and Mauro Ramos).
