The F1 Thread 2015 Season

Kimi is fecked.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's dropped by Ferrari at the end of the season. They are paying him a lot of money and he isn't delivering.

Aye good lap that from Lewis, Rosberg would have had to go some to match that anyway.

It was a pretty boring quali I thought, good to see Lewis on pole though. I reckon we'll see Jenson score points if his car lasts the race.

Question is, who to replace him? Do they go to one of the promising rookies (Verstappen), or one of those who are in the mid teams who could be good enough to make the next step (Hulkenberg)?

um - 4th in the championship is about where he should be. not sure what else SF were hoping for this season.

What do you guys think of the dutch kid Verstappen? More potential than his dad obviously but can he be a future champ?

Max is clearly talented but I don't think he's done anything that special yet. I mean it is special to be in F1 and on the pace at 17 obviously but that doesn't always translate to being a star, Sainz Jr has been equally as good yet isn't getting the plaudits......must be too old at 20 right? Toro Rosso looks a decent car actually and its allowing them to compete, we would have a better idea of where they both stand if they had an experienced teammate to compare them to.

And on the making F1 interesting again? Make them faster first and foremost, these guys are cruising around like limo drivers in the races and it's risk free racing, how often do the non-Maldonado drivers actually make errors in the races these days? Lower the front wings to negate some of the dirty air issues for following cars, if they have to keep the new hybrid engines then make them racey, louder and more powerful. They certainly should not feck around with the weekend format, none of this split race idea shit they had in the F1 fan survery, leave quali alone because its fun as is.

Fact is F1 has been abit less interesting recently because of team dominance, first it was Red Bull and now its Mercedes. Even if you are a fan of both, it becomes boring.

Can't agree more. I think he has a lot of potential, but that might be my Dutch bias speaking.

F1 has always had a dominant team though really.

Before Red Bull it was Ferrari, before that Williams and before that McLaren.

I only have setanta sports, so I'll only be getting the race. Missing the coverage beforehand...Have I missed anything?

"The plan is to go as fast as possible and overtake as many cars as possible"

No shit, Sherlock.

True, the dominant teams tend to win in the end. But when you get seasons where 2-3 cars are capable of winning you get decent years, F1 has suffered because none of the big teams are peaking at the same time anymore. Soon as Red Bull became mortal, Mercedes became dominant. We need the likes of McLaren to get their shit together and for Ferrari to keep pulling Mercedes back, then if the rules remain relatively normal the field will close.

F1 shoots itself in the foot all the time by trying to re-invent itself every 5-6 years with new regs, all it does is jumble it all up again.

On average, what's the difference in power between the Mercedes and the rest? They've got this hybrid engine thing, but I've never bothered to figure out what the difference is and what extra power it gives.

Whatever happened to having all the cars having decent sized engines and allowing for decent competition?
:(

About 60bhp

It can produce decent races if it rains. Recently though it's a snorefest.

I feel like Monaco used to have a lot more incidents in the past. These days pretty much everyone finishes which means its a procession.
