The F1 Thread 2014 Season

The cars have been managing fuel ever since refueling was banned. This year is no different.

However to say it's not racing is a bit blasé. The challenge with racing was that the cars always had more downforce than power in the engine, so now with it being the other way round, the drivers have to actually drive the car rather than point and turn in.
Yeh, but there is a slight difference in they have a fuel tank size of X only allowed, but I get your point. The way it is currently just doesn't sit right with me. I'm not a fan of hearing people being told to conserve fuel/tyres every single race instead of actually pushing to catch people/overtake.

It's early days on the engines too, I'm sure in time they will get on top of fuel balancing. I'd much rather see drivers on lower fuel settings still driving hard than drivers not able to push for fear of the tyres falling apart.

As long as there is no refuelling in F1 they will always be fuel limited, even if they could do a race distance flatout they would underfuel them to save weight and race smart.

So first and second is basically a given in this race provided nothing happens to them. Riccardo did well to get third, probably the best he could have hoped for given his 10 spot penalty. Botta is doing really well, I'm liking the look of him right now. Seems to be a good racer.

How come vettle missed out on Q3? Riccardo has shown the car is decent?

I think Vettel had a problem with his car, sure I heard him say a balance problem.

Looks like we are up for another boring season even with all these changes. One car is going to utterly dominate.

Just caught up on quali (finally!) Vettel

Mercedes have a great package, I reckon Hamilton to win this one. Looking forward to the race, love it that red bull are struggling.

That is going to the most enjoyable aspect of the season for me too. Laughing at Vettel moaning on the radio

JB's 250th Grand Prix today! Cake for everyone!

Night races are a load of bollocks. Was Singapore and Abu Dhabi not enough for the FIA, why make this a night race too?

I quite like the night races actually, Bahrain was boring as feck anyway.

Some of the drivers are moany bastards over the change in track temperature though which gets right on my tits. Maybe Bahrain will be more entertaining in the dark but Im not convinced.

Bernie wants teams to alter the exhaust pipe on the cars to try get the old noises back. And risk possible performance? Don't see that happening. Couple of new teams on the horizon too, that worked out well last time they accepted three new teams in F1. We got a whole load of back benchers on the grid racing at the back from race to race.

Another race another day Luca di Montezemolo doesn't like the rules change because his team isn't fast enough. What else is new.

I reckon this will end up

1. Rosberg
2. Hamilton
3. Button

Ron saying it as it is, fair play to him.

I would definitely like to give Claire Williams one on top of the Williams F1 car...

I think that's more excitement in half a lap then all the previous Bahrain GPs put together.

Kimi giving out about Magnusson hitting him again.

.....and now he is going to save fuel and attack later it seems.
