The F1 Thread 2010 Season

Hmmm, wasn't expecting the McLaren to be that much slower, that's certainly disappointing

I'm making a prediction based on my pre season negativity. There will be no on track overtaking after the second lap tomorrow.

i think somebody will run out of petrol is my prediction...

and actually perhaps is just me hoping but I think there might be quite a lot of overtaking as people get used to the new cars... lots of little errors and the like... quite a few people went wide in quali today

Have to hope that a few people wreck their tyres early to make it interesting, and start going backwards and then are forced to pit

Ah, the old latin terminology of RafaBeneathUs comes to mind

Yea that's true I guess, might take a few races for them all to get used to the new set ups before we get proper processions.

Someone running out of fuel would be nothing short of hilarious!

I dont love this sport as much I did back in the day when Schumi was winning everything and then the stupid officials changed the fecking rules of this sport. How ridiculous was that and still Schumi found a way to win.

Yay A crash! Webbers car was smoking and then there was a bit of a pile up

quick question re quali...

they have to start on the tyres they qualified on if they are in the top 10 right but can choose any tyre if they are not...

hypothetically if its sunny in quali and then raining for the start of the race are then honestly going to line up 10 cars on slick tyres fully loaded with fuel and race them into a corner whilst 14 cars fully loaded with fuel but on wets catch them up... presumably at about the 1st corner... :nervous:

they must be exceptions to the rule?????... anybody know???

this is from the Offical rule page , so may answer you question ?

The only exceptions to these start procedures are connected to the weather. If it starts to rain in the three minutes prior to the start then the abort lights will come on and the starting procedure will revert to the 10-minute point to allow teams to change to appropriate tyres.

a few more bits from
Formula 1? - The Official F1? Website

A driver will then be allocated eight further sets of dry-weather tyres (four of each specification) to use over the rest of the event, but one set of each spec must be returned to the tyre supplier before the start of Saturday’s qualifying session. At the start of the race the cars that took part in Q3 must be fitted with the tyres the driver used to set his grid time.

Teams are free to use wet tyres as they see fit during qualifying and the race. However, during the preceding practice sessions, they may only be used if the track has been declared wet by the race director. If a race is started behind the safety car due to heavy rain, the use of wet tyres is compulsory.

Come on Vettel, got 5 pound on you and you're part of my accumalator, dont feck this up.

this is boring :(

Agreed. Nothing has really happened... aero's penalise drivers who try to overtake, the "dirty air" affect. This is why it'll be boring, drivers are told to "save the tyres" instead of trying to overtake.

This would be alot better if they split it up into 2 races and followed the Touring Car format of having a reversed grid for the 2nd race (but that would never happen).

What a pisser, shit boring race and now the guy who deserves the win has his car fall apart on him.

Exhaust failure, so now Ham is going to get on the podium.

Alonso putting the hammer down now.

Can everyone please not put any posts regarding the match in here. I'm recording it, so will be watching it directly after the Grand Prix. Thank you.
