O noes, the FIA will really have to think hard for an original excuse for ferrari to win this time!

Hehehe, the time I went to Monza, it was glorious sunshine :D

Should be a belter on the TV though. Ferrari must be gutted. Wouldn't be suprised to see some Soviet style cloud seeding before Sunday :smirk:

What times the race on Sunday actually start?

Rumour has it FIA are buying Mclaren and renaming them Ferrari 2, only new way they cant think of ruling out a Mclaren win..

not very hard is it though. You are not allowed to pass cutting chicanes and this was indeed how Hamilton passed Kimi...so what the feck is unclear? and how is it a controversy that it took the stewards 2 hours to figure out he got passed Kimi cutting a chicane - it was fecking visible from the TV pictures in two seconds for the average viewer.. An investigaton should be launched why it took so long to punish Hamilton and not if taking away his points was justified or not..

What is amazing is that whenever there has been a controversy last years it has involved Hamilton breaking the rules and the British press going on about a Ferrari bias.. Pathetic are the British it has to be said.

F1 expert you are , not a Ferrari fan by any chance. Ferrari Supporters , Formula One supporters and many others have come out and said that the decision was harsh and you come up with this statement. Sorry my mistake Ferrari are the angels of F1.

Wow.

Just... wow.

decision was harsh? so are you allowed to pass other in formula 1 by cutting chicanes? what do you think? yes or no?

No, in such situations you have to give the position back

Which is precisely what Hamilton did

And the clip Keane posted shows that Raikkonen was always travelling faster down the straight once Hamilton had let him retake the lead, until he breaked far earlier for turn one. Something he'd done for the last several corners, which had allowed Hamilton to quash a 3-5 second deficit in absolutely no time

I wish you were on the WUM, but I know you're not. And the funny thing is, you pop at the 'pathetic' British for their bias, when its clear as day you have a bias in the other direction. You'd have thought as a fan of Formula 1, you'd be all for the thrill of genuine racing. We had one of the most exciting race ending in years taken away from us by the stewards. And instead of bemoaning this, you try to get your predictable cheap pop in. Poor form really

FIA president Max Mosley has hit back at suggestions the FIA is biased against McLaren and in favour of Ferrari, insisting the governing body is 'utterly neutral'.

The FIA came under fire this week after championship leader Lewis Hamilton was striped of his Belgian Grand Prix victory for cutting the chicane while overtaking Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen in the closing laps of the race.

The McLaren driver was awarded by the race stewards a 25-second penalty, which demoted him to third place. The penalty was heavily criticised by many fans and pundits, with the FIA again being accused of bias against the Woking team and their driver.

"Any suggestion there is a bias for or against any team or driver is completely untrue, absolutely not," Mosley told Reuters today at Monza.

"I think it's a reflection, and I'm sorry to say this, of the stupidity of the people who say it because they haven't really thought the thing through and put themselves in the position of the people who have to take these very difficult decisions."

Mosley further emphasized the governing body will not get involved in the championship battle, although he stated his belief that Hamilton is still favourite to take the crown.

"I think he is a brilliant driver and it would be really excellent for Formula One and the world championship, if he won it," the FIA president said. "But that doesn't mean we are going to help him or hinder him. We are going to be utterly neutral.

"But that said, it would be brilliant if he won because he is a supreme talent and when it's difficult, that's when we see it. He has done a great job, and whilst we can admire, we mustn't assist or hinder."

Well he wasn't going to say anything else but still...

No need to get your knickers in a twist Brad just because your pro-McLaren bias was mentioned.. I am obviously neutral - I follow our drivers and not the specific teams and as such I don't care if Massa wins the title or not. Kimi will certainely not do it as they seem to be unable to solve his tyre wear problem during this season or if they do so, it will be too late anyways.

Ahmed, Hamilton gave back the place to Kimi. What is so hard to understand about that. You've seen previous examples with Alonso and Schumi earlier in this thread when they didn't even yield the position - yet still were not given a penalty. All we want is some consistency.

If you give back the advantage you had - and then go on to overtake in straight racing - what is so wrong about that? I didn't see any law that said that once you have gained advantage by cutting a chicaine, and then you give the position back, that you are never again allowed to overtake for the rest of the race.

Is this what you are suggesting?

Tx

Kimi and Lewis out of the top 10, 14th and 15th, struggling to put out a lap time.

Massa only just make the top 10.

I just watched a rerun after the match.

What a crazy session.

Vettel is truely a great talent. I think he would fit right in at Mclaren, Ferrari or BMW. Too bad he's going to Red Bull now.

A mad session by all accounts.

Raikkonen and Hamilton so far back :wenger: will be good to see them come through and they can also pick their own fuel load now.

Agree about Vettel, been punching above his weight for a while, no wonder Red Bull acted quickly and promoted him after Coulthard said he was resigning.

Can't help but think some of them are a lot lighter fuelled looking at the times in order to get pole position. Didn't watch any of it though so I maybe wrong.

What time does the race start tomorrow? Will be amazing to watch, especially if the rain keeps on. Hamilton fighting his way through the positions to another win.. for a 25second penalty to be incurred because he followed procedure. Damn you Hamilton.

Hamilton went out on normal wet tires in the beginning of Q2 and had to come in because they didn't work well (everyone else was on extreme wets) By the time Hamilton switched, it started to rain heavily again and the track went extremely wet straight away so he couldn't improve his time.

All Europe races are 1300 BST starts.

Thank you ZIDANE. My missus hates weekends..

Saturday - football, F1 qualifying, football, MOTD..

Sunday - football, F1 Race, American football, American football.

Hope it doesn't end up with numerous pile ups and loads of procession laps behind the safety car.

Should be a cracker tomorrow. A genuine test of Hamiltons wet weather credentials, it'll be important to immediately pass Raikkonen. I'm actually rooting for Vetal to bring it home, what an achievement to win in the second team of Red Bull!!! Super talent

Hamilton needs a fecking miracle tomorrow. If its dry he has no chance and if its wet he will probably crash out pushing too hard.

ferrari must be praying hard for dry and sunny day tomorrow, they just cannot get up to speed with their car in wet conditions.

Should be a great race. Would have been better if Massa had to stick with 12th. But he pulled out a rabbit just in time. All the big names having to come through the field would have made it more exciting. Massa now though has room to work with .

Looking forward to it.

I don't think the Ferrari likes the changing conditions, it certainly doesn't adapt to them as well as the McLaren does. I think they have a problem warming their tyres up or something. If it does happen it will be interesting to see if McLaren can take advantage.

Anything can happen in a wet race mind. It only takes one car aquaplaning across the chicane to send the safety car out bringing everything back to square one and messing with strategies. McLaren tend to fear the safety car factor and always adjust their strategy around such an event aspiring.

Nice grid, should make for an eventful race regardless of the weather. Not sure what Lewis was thinking with those intermediates in Q2....Q3 maybe...it's easy in restrospect mind. But even at the time.....???

He and Raikkonen are allowed fuel up and change set-ups now aren't they...no parc ferme conditions for them. If it's a full wet race they may even be at an advantage by being able to go for a full wet set up and optimium fuel strategy - whereas Massa et al are restricted in their options. It may even work out better for them if it's totally dry, given that those up front today will have made concessions in their set up for a wet qualifying - whereas Hamilton will almost certainly prefer a wet/dry/wet scenario.

I don't mind the odd pace car for genuine reasons, it forces people to think on their feet a bit.

Should be interesting.
