The Europa League 2017/18(Use the SF thread to discuss the current match)

Freiburg about to go out as well. Would be extremely embarrassing.

Same for Braga, but they still have time to turn it around.

Arka and Lech go out tonight. Shame for Arka, they really gave their best against Midgetland but scored an OG today and lost the second goal that put Midtjylland ahead on agg around 93rd minute or so. Lech are a bunch of losers so feck them. Hope Legia go out next week too.

Several surprises up to now: PSV Eindhoven, Freiburg, Bordeaux and Gent unexpectedly eliminated.

Bilbao got Panathinaikos. First leg away 17th August, then first league game is at home I presume on the Sunday then 2nd leg at home 24th August.

He's so good. Hopefully we get to see him in green and white in a couple of years.
Hmm, I would like to see him developing at Braga at least 2 years, and he is a Mendes player, Salvador will sell him by a lot of money to a foreign club, I even have the crazy idea that he has more potential than Neves or Sanches.

Unfortunately we need to develop our own players, by the way if feckin JJ cannot beat Steaua better for him to start thinking leaving the club, no excuses this time, he is the most lucky guy in the world.

Incredible what happend yesterday in Domzale vs Freiburg. Whole Slovenia was cheering for Domzale and they made it. Well deserved 2:0 win against much bigger club, last season they went out of EL because of one goal difference against West Ham.

Now they got the biggest team to beat, again. Olympique Marsielle, I was praying for it to happen to be honest, even though I want Domzale to go in Europa League group stage. The only reason for that is of course Patrice Evra comming to Slovenia and I can't wait to see him. I think I'll make a banner for him and hopefully I get a chance to take a picture with him or get his jeresey :D

Oh, and Hajduk Split will play against Everton, thats about 300 km away from where I live, but I might go there just to see Wazza and Schneiderlin play

I've adopted them, just to be different I suppose.
Good taste, a historic club, strong identity, only Basque players, will never forget the 2 matches under Bielsa against United, it was a tsunami of football at Old Trafford by El Loco, unfortunately it was not so funny for my club in the semis, anyway, lets see if they will adapt well now without Valverde.

I think the uncertainty about Valverde impacted on their season. Every press conference players and manager were being asked about what was happening regarding Barcelona. Hopefully it will be more settled this season.

Any new player coming from their academy?

I know they have brought a couple up from Bilbao Athletic. I know they wanted the lad who has gone to Newcastle on loan from Dortmund. That is a disappointment as their policy make their pool of players a lot smaller than other clubs.

I'm not ashamed to say that I like the Europa League.

It makes a change to see and play clubs that you wouldn't normally encounter, and a number of them were some of the most well known clubs in Europe when I was a lad in the 70's & 80's. Ajax, Hadjuk Split, Anderlecht, St Etienne etc..,

It's also far more unpredictable than the Champions League, which gives it an added excitement.

Yeah, i do agree. About time we prove something different.

Agreed, it's a shame it carries a stigma of being a "poor" competition, I really enjoyed our run to the final. Winning it gave me no less joy than a CL final victory TBH, it felt like it meant just as much at the time.

Personally, I think Arsenal should go all out to win it.
It's the UEFA cup, and its qualification to Champions League group stage.

For a club of Arsenal's history, it's long overdue to win a European competition.
One Cup Winners Cup back in 1994 is really a poor record for a club of Arsenal's reputation.

Always said we should go all gun blazing for it. We fecking need to win an european trophy.

Seems the Everton game isn't on BT Sport tonight - anyone any idea why?

Gonna watch Ajax - Rosenborg out of sheer desperation for some football.

Hope Ajax twat the bastards.
