It was a decades draft so that exercise was more about getting as many top top players from each decade than the most balanced team. Nobody is getting past peak Rijkaard and Neeskens anyway. Except Masopust

This thread perfectly encapsulates why I've gone off Caf drafts. Debate club style arguing with people willing to say anything to win, one manager seriously outnumbered in the thread and, finally, PMing people for votes to cap it all off! Are people really that desperate to win? Surprised to hear this happened in the past as well. Fair play to @Balu for brushing it off but he should have named and shamed right then.
Oh and for once you can't blame @antohan for this! I remember receiving a PM from him a long time ago and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. It was during one of the drafts where games were literally getting only 4-5 votes and he was just trying to drum up some participation from previous managers. That's the spirit in which PM sending should be done (but it should just be a banned now and lead to instant disqualification to avoid confusion).

Yups, love Masopust. I think it was probably more a case of not liking that Kempes role TBH. That was a turn-off and one of the reasons I later went for the infamous "peaked too early", you really seemed to be moving sideways after an exciting start.

No one really seems to care about how this actually ended. It's slightly weird. I'm good either way. Could just do penalties, because it was a draw when all the nonsense started after all (you could say it was 0-0 when the game started, which is basically the same in this case)

Yeah, that was very much my thought last night. It was a very tight game throughout anyway, and it was tied in the first half. Going for the recount option ignores that some of EAPs five votes may be switches (berbasloth) or people deciding their vote on the back of the scandalously abnormal voting patterns. You can't draw everyone back and ask what motivated them, etc. Penos, simple and fair.
And yes, that was a post-rationalisation on why I may have come up with that reason to vote. I do however have a recollection of reasoning it, or brainfarting it, whichever you prefer.

If the penalty taker shoots left and the goalkeeper jumps right, it's saved.
If the penalty taker shoots right and the goalkeeper jumps left, it's saved.
Both center and it's saved as well.
