The distant possibility of ever getting revenge for the 7 nil

Are you a bit old, pops?

We'll avenge them within the next ten years.

Beat Liverpool 7-0? We've won by 7 or more goals like, 4 times in the last 30 years... And against middling/naff teams. It's pretty improbable we'll beat Liverpool by 7 goals in the next 10 years.

Weird reading this thread. Some people are acting like us winning the league may be some kind of partial revenge. Absolute insanity.

If they miss out on top 4 and we get it, plus we already have a trophy - then I wish them well with their banter as they watch us in the champions league and returning to the top of the sport.

I think there are a lot of youngsters here. Trust me, time heals everything. But it doesn't heal trophies won by rivals, those are actual silvery things in cabinets, they exist. I'm not sure one will be handed out for Sunday.

It would rely on Liverpool having a crisis and us going to Anfield in Red hot form.

We weren't exactly miles away from this scenario on Sunday to be fair

People laughed at me for posting "massive overreactions incoming" after the game.

Wasn't wrong was I?

I'm hoping it marks the start of a run of games for them similar to when they beat Bournemouth 9-0
Their next game just happens to be Bournemouth, who will hopefully beat them like United did after the 9-0 and then hopefully they'll have another 5 or 6 games before their next league win. Unlikely, but who knows.

At the end of the day, if we've finished above them and have silverware in our cabinet and they have a tin of 7 up in theirs we've won the war for this season.

If they end the season with the 7-0 as their highlight and win nothing, so be it.

We could go on to win another cup, and cement a top 3 position.
Have to look at the bigger picture at times

Yep, it could well be like their Stevie Hollywood kissing the camera pic, while we kiss the premier league moment.

Winning more trophies and staying ahead is the only way to revenge it.

What has hurt a lot about the trouncing is that if it happened with most other clubs there would always be a possibility for revenge. I'd even be more confident about scoring 7 at the Etihad but with Liverpool we've never been able to go to Anfield at humble them at our best, we've barely done it at Old Trafford either

I've been thinking over how United could avenge the defeat.

1) Thrashing Liverpool - will be unlikely in the near future even if ETH turns this team into world beaters. It would rely on Liverpool having a crisis and us going to Anfield in Red hot form.

2) going on an unbeaten run against Liverpool - in some ways more feesible but also arguably more difficult. If we could not lose to them for several seasons it may be a long drawn out revenge which can damage them psychologically. Even if its just a few seasons of 1 nils and two ones.

3) knocking them out of the Champions League - would be a big risk but if we could knock them out of the Champions League with decisive performances this might be doable and would hurt Liverpool considering how special the champions league is to them

Are there other ways for United to get revenge?

I don't think we will humiliate them in a similar way in me lifetime. That result is one for the history books. What we could do is start winning big significant trophies (PL, CL) and that way make them irrelevant.

Can’t see it. We’ve barely ever hammered them, even when they were shit and we were winning back to back titles. Seem to remember a 4-1 win once, which is nothing compared.

The 4-0, 5-0 (9-0) on aggregate last season were too. It’s becoming a pattern, essentially us being their perennial whipping boys.

The only thing that will make up for this is a scenario where City have fallen behind and we are playing Liverpool at Anfield 2 points behind the top in the last league game of the season.

And beat them with a 90 minute 4-3 goal by a cannon from Bruno 20 meters out

Same situation but Paul Pogba who has returned on loan at 38 years old dabs the ball in from an offside position which var fails to spot in the 96th minute.

I think the best way to get any sort of revenge for it would be beating them in a champions league final or pipping them to the league title in exact similar fashion to how City done it to us in 2012 and to Liverpool last season. Or winning the league title at Anfield on the last day of the season would be my preference.

A 7-0 loss means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Would you take a 7-0 win against them over a league position above them?

Only appropriate form of revenge this season is:

1. Finish 3rd
2. Win FA Cup, equalling their trophy haul from last season and NOT hold an open top bus parade as they did.

That would be something.

Success is the best revenge. Forget 7-0, it will never happen.

Anyway, I'd rather lose by 7 than be a Scouse!

It was a freak scoreline that will probably never repeat. I'm just content that our future is brighter than there's while they're stuck with FSG and we're getting shot of the Glazers.

I don't think we'll every replicate that scoreline, not atleast in our lifetimes. It was a freak scoreline.

However, revenge could be how we use this. EtH will never forget it I'm sure, and neither will the players. Revenge will be if Liverpool have to watch us lift another cup or two this season, and we finish above them in the Prem. Humiliation of your bitter rival can be a double-edged sword, not just in football.

If we use that game as a constant reminder and kick on next season, and look to be a true force, and more successful under EtH than they were under Klopp and their most 'successful' period in 3 decades, that will be a form of revenge.

There's no way to spin last Sunday as a positive. But I remember seeing Avram Glazer crawl out of the woodworks when we won the Carabao Cup a couple weeks ago. The last thing we want is them finally deciding to stick around now it looks like we're on the up again.

There was a danger things were going "too good" and this should strengthen EtH's hand in the summer with regards to "lot's done, loads more to do", significant reinvestment needed etc etc.

If the Glazers get bought out by Qatar, then go in as majority owners at Liverpool, keeping their own leeches around for extra leeching potential and bringing that asset stripping loan shark organisation whose name escapes me with them, then they embark on an unprecedented asset stripping leech fest, then when they are in league 2 in a few years time, we draw them in the league cup and decimate them 20-0 that would be a great response.

The Glazers owe us this
