the classic shows from when you were a kid thread

I used to go home for lunch from school. The only programs on were...

The Cedar Tree

The Sullivan's.

They were shit.

The Sullivan's were a family in Australia during WW2.I think Nicole Kidman was in it but this seems a bit of a reach.

The Cider Tree had an annoying old guy who wanted to share a taxi all the time.I was too young to make any untoward connection.

Me mum watched the Sullivan's. God it was awful. It was almost like it was broadcast in slow motion.

theres something i remember seeing about 3 times as a kid...a short film type thing on BBC2 (wouldve been on around 6pm) about a man in paris? who while out walking at night stops a man trying to drown something in a fountain...the other bloke runs off and leaves the first man with tis huge bird(the flying type) which had a torso of a woman with a mad face and a bald head...he takes her home and basically she eats everything he has...any time he gets any food she swoops down and nicks it until he is starving...he ends up trying to drown her in the same fountain and another bloke intervenes and the guy runs off.....etc etc

it totally freaked me out...was a well disturbing film...though its was tinted and cartoonlike also.

does anyone remember this...no-one i ever talk to about it has heard of it and doubts my memory.

also Ludwig - a violin playing egg

and Aubrey - a brown thing with a huge nose and a car.

when it wasnt Crown Court.

The Sullivans was good. Probably more of a woman's series but it had a good story and good characters, and was well acted - there was other crap on around that time like daytime American soaps. Now they were dire and the acting was amateurish. Mel Gibson was in The Sullivans. So was Kylie. When it was repeated on UK Gold, it was good trying to spot all the people who are now famous.

I must've missed it, Toffee. Used to love Monkey. Watched it first time around, in the late 70's.

It was just the way I also said "I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned.." So I just wondered if I'd pasted a dodgy link or something..

And I'm old enough to have caught it at that time as well... Although my old man always insisted that the Water Margin was better, and if remember correctly it was on around the same time..

"Do not mock the snake for having no horns, for who knows? One day it may grow up to be a dragon.."
