The Centre Forward Stop-Gap Market

He's had a rough patch with injuries since last season but Gerard Moreno, from Villarreal, is a really good choice. He's class, wouldn't mind spending 20-30M to get him.

I reckon Giakoumakis is worth a punt everytime I’ve watched Celtic this season he looks a player just needs regular game time

Weghorst is actually a very good player. Profile is similar to Giroud but more of a workhorse. But he's already on a season long loan so I don't understand how it's possible.

Yeah can't see how it's possible either

Don't mind Weghorst as a bench stop gap. Always feel like a bench striker is best if they're really just target men. Memphis would have been decent cover for Martial offering more of the same, but Weghorst would help with long balls/crosses.

Turkish media onto it as well. We are in talks with Burnley for a loan.

One of my mates is a huge Besiktas fan and has a lot of positive things to say about him. Says he's pretty much a "poor mans Kane", great at the link up, fantastic aerially and a really positive player.

Here’s a few names to grab you by the bollocks. Older bracket and should be obtainable. Who do you like?

Enner Valencia and Florian Sotoca are flying. Wout Weghorst is too.

Ben Yedder

Fulkrug

Florian Sotoca

Aboubakar

Weghorst

Enner Valencia

Chupo-Motting

Martin Braithwaite

Now linked to Weghorst.

Actually think this would be a very good stop-gap signing for us. He's an excellent presser and also has good box movement. Takes up central positions and hits that back post so Antony might get some joy with his cut in and crosses to that area with a unit like Weghorst. His goalscoring has been far from impressive in recent years but he has a decent history of racking up good numbers in Germany. He completely bullied us in one of his first games for Burnley and was a complete nuisance.

Its always so weird to see these kind of posts that gloss over the glazers. In the same breath you give them shallow praise for actually doing dumb stuff that has led us to this point where the club literally has no money to spend. Its so weird..like praising a security dude for hiding when theives raid a store. So you say we have spent the most in the world on transfers in the past 10 years....thats not good at all. There is no prize for spending the most....infact it shows a serious level of incompetence for us to be top of the list. The glazers allowing such silly money to be spent is actually a flaw on their side. How can we spend so much with so little to actually show for it. No trophies, no massive stadium overhaul, no investment into the community etc. If the owners dont care where the money goes, who will. If the money then runs out who is to blame...somehow the glazers got people to believe that we should blame the very employees they hired rather than them.

You then say the footballing side has been a disaster and blame woodward etc. Fair enough...but who employed woodward for 10 plus years and did nothing when his incompetence was obvious way back in 2015...the glazers. It will always end with them since they are the owners. Who is supposed to deal with a problematic CEO...the owners of course.

Furthermore you then say that them taking money out of the club isnt a big deal...well it is a big deal if they have saddled debt onto the club and havent paid a single coin of those debts. In addition, its amazing that more fans are not shocked at the massive financial mismanagement the glazers have done at manutd...we literally dont have money to spend, and we have huge debts. No wonder the glazers want to sell.

Basically even the glazers themselves have accepted that they have run this club to the ground and there is no more money to siphon off plus its time to actually start paying the debts back and they now have to sell but somehow there are people who think they are not so bad...jesus.

The glazers must be the poorest rich people in the world. How are they even rich. At this rate, the family will be broke within 2 generations. They borrow against the club, they take money from the club, havent paid back any of the debts, havent sunk a single coin of their own money in any form of investment into the club, have basically made horrible footballing decisions for 10 years but they still have fans who think they are not the root problem. Brothers,The devil is a liar.
This post gets worse and worse the more you read on.
When a country elects a leader, and the leader does a bad job of running the country, it is the leader who is to blame, not the voters. I don't understand the fans who for years protested against the Glazers. Had they protested against Woodward, maybe the Glazers would have sacked him years ago and brought about change straight away (or at least brought in a DOF to run the footballing side).

As for the financial mismanagement, Woodward actually did a reasonable job of bringing in revenue. He just completely mismanaged the footballing side of things, and then as you said, forced the club in to trying to buy their way out of trouble by overspending on (often the wrong) players.

Anyway, we have a proper manager in now, who will turn around the football side of things, but we need to put in place a proper infrastructure with a DOF who knows how to run a football club. Otherwise, we will have the same problems when Ferguson left and we were directionless.

Great post! I agree 100%. He is a real pain in the rear to play against, never gives up on his presses. Seem to piss opponents off, surely a bit of a trash talker. Makes a ton of sense if subbed on for Martial with 10 minutes to go, helping us defending on set pieces etc. Big game player.

1 down, 1 to go.

What do we have on stop gap AMCs? A title change in order? :)

At AMC, weren’t we linked to Brahim Diaz? Any chance AC Milan might make him available on a loan?

Heard Sneijder is available.

What is Pablo Aimar doing these days?

It’s kind of funny, when you start thinking of these names, so many are still playing. Felliani. Andres Ineista is still playing (in Japan, I think). Santi Carzola is still playing. Ander Herrara. Raketic has a big role for Sevilla. We of course faced David Silva for Socidad. Lucas Leiva. KP Boateng. Arda Turan. Arturo Vidal.

It would be fun if like Pep coached say a Pompey and put the old gang together. These guys can still do so many of the same things that made them world class, while they would never be able to do it for like 30+ games per year or even for 90 minutes most nights. And they are pretty poor as ‘depth’ acquisitions since injuries always comes and goes fairly regularly and you don’t know when they will be available.

This is a 38 y/o Ineista. Would take him on my team any day.

A lot more realistic with 5 subs. Your back 5 (including GK) doesn't sub a ton, maybe one fullback, so you can still substitute 4 of your front 6 players, so just need say 3 solid starters in the front younger/prime players who can go 90 minutes and then you could build a Bolton style side of past legends, sub 2 at half time, 2 after an hour and one with 10-15 to go or so and pray nobody gets hurt.

This is just more glossing over the glazers. Manunited isnt a country and we didnt elect either woodward or the glazers. Besides its so dumb to protest against woodward while leaving the masterminds in place. As you can see, even without woodward, the glazers have successfully brought the club to its knees financially. They are literally the definition of a new word I heard... income vampires

Furthermore....I see you conviniently ignored talking about the debts that they havent paid a single coin on. Like I said, some fans purposely choose to not see the how horrible the glazers are even when all the evidence is there

Our bench options are frighteningly shallow. Get somebody in and back the coach.
It’s not about backing the coach. It’s about spending more money that we don’t have. If you’re asking glazers to put their hands in their own pockets, wake up, they’ve never done that.

Can we not get Zaha for below 10 million, better than depay and he's going to be free come the summer

An indication of the type of forwards we are looking at…
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...-year-old-Inter-Milan-striker-Edin-Dzeko.html

According to Calcio Mercato, Dzeko has emerged as a possibility in what would represent a stunning return to Manchester after a five-year spell at neighbours City where he won two Premier League titles.

Despite entering the twilight of his career, Dzeko hasn't lost his eye for goal, netting seven goals in 17 Serie A appearances this season.

He's not a striker though is he?

And with Memphis, he's not only been a striker but also has a genuinely good goalscoring record at most of his clubs while playing at top international level and the top level of European football too.

Memphis above Zaha all day for me

But Ten Hag seems to want someone in the 'Haller' mould who can be a destructive force in the box. And he's earned that right. I quite like W.W. from what I've seen of him

Can anyone explain why Sesko is mentioned along the likes of Osimhen and Kane?

Why prices around £50 M are quoted for the guy who scored 5 goals in 16 games in Austrian Bundesliga?

Reminds me the story of the naked king. Everyone is just following the media. Red Bull is king of marketing. They can sell poison and teenagers for ridiculous money.

We allegedly followed him (and made an offer) when he was at Domzale, so we probably have quite a strong, long-standing interest in him. He's clearly someone we believe who will develop into a top first team player, with the ability to provide an impact now too. He'll be half the price of those players too.

Conveniently they leave out lukaku to push a certain neagtive narrative
Ibrahimovic shouldn't be included in the list but Lukaku was signed in 2017 shouldn't there anyway.

Since Luakaku left in 2019, Ighalo, Cavani and Ronaldo have been our only CF signings with Weghhorst likely added onto the list. I suppose the excuse would be that we had Martial playing well at one point and also had Greenwood however Martial hasn't been consistent and Greenwood didn't even play as a striker all that much. The fact we're onto stop-gap striker no.4 shows we haven't been the best with our squad management or transfer dealings.
