This was by far the biggest shock of the week. The Broncos had looked awful and then had to play at Foxboro. It became pretty clear that the Pats no longer have no passing options so teams are stacking the line to stop the run.

Patriots look shitty. Maybe they should have paid big bucks to keep Branch or bring in a receiver worth a damn.

aye, we have probably the best QB in the sport, all we need is somebody who can catch the frickin pigskin!

Actually, without the running game Brady is being forced to throw it more, which is the real problem. The Pats can't win when he is forced to throw the ball as the basis of their offense. Their wide receivers are adequate, not Pro Bowl material, but if you compare them to the Eagles wide receivers they are far deeper. But McNabb has been able to find his receivers against much tougher competition during the first 3 weeks.

Brady is one of the most accurate QBs in the league and Belichek's offence is predicated on relying on the run and short to mid-range accurate passing. He is also the best game manager in the league. But his efficiency has dropped since he lost Charlie Weis feeding him the plays.

Manning is the best QB in the league. Most talented, most accurate, understand the game at a level other players can't fathom. No one else in the league has as much responsibility as he does, since he calls all the plays and all the audibles. If it wasn't for coming up against a team who defense was much better than his team's, who are improved but still not great, he would have already had a Super Bowl or two.

Thats why the Colts are the favourites this year then?

Chargers vs Ravens is the big game of the week, top 2 defences going head to head.

Chargers win!

Well although the Colts have been favoured in most magazines (ESPN, SI, USA Today. etc), I think this may be one of the most wide open seasons in quite a while. There are at least 6 teams that I can see winning it this year (Colts, Steelers, Bengals, Seahawks, Carolina, and, before the season started at least, the Giants).

But I would say that most of the prognosticators picked the Colts because they improved their kicking game with the best pressure kicker in the game (Adam Vinatieri), their defence was drastically overhauled before last season began and they kept them together for the most part, they have the most lethal touchdown combination in NFL history (only 8 years together and they already broke the NFL record for touchdowns [Manning and Marvin Harrison) and the best receiving corp in the league. They also drafted a very good running, pass catching running back to fill in for the departed Edgerrin James in Joseph Addai.

They would have won the Super Bowl last year if big mouth Vanderjagt ( or Vanderjerk as he's been known to be called) wouldn't have choked on the field goal at the end of the game.

The Chargers definitely look good this year. I have been surprised so far by how well Rivers has done stepping in this year. It usually takes a new starting QB, no matter how talented he is, some time to adjust to starting in the NFL, but I guess when you have weapons like LT and Gates, it makes it easier.

Definitely a great match up. Merriman is an absolute stud, he just destroys people at the point of contact. It's fun to watch him destroy people out there.

I couldn't believe that the Pats let Vinatieri go, kicking is such a vital part of the game and they get shot of the best kicker in the game.

thats stupid.

RedCanadian said:
Agreed, letting Vinatieri go was a bad move. Now they have a rookie kicker who has looked pretty nervous so far this season.

Ah well, I trust enough in Belichick, you don't win all he's won by not knowing what you're doing, he'll probably have something up his sleeve (I hope as a Pats fan)

Well the Pats found out today that they have no passing attack and the only way they will be successful is getting Maroney alot of touches.

I didnt watch the game due to lack of coverage, but we've just easily beat one of the favourites for the Super Bowl easily..

Shit, Ravens had bugger all on offence and the Chargers special teams messed up. Marty put too tight a hold on Rivers, 8 passes in the 2nd half. Crap.

the patriots are not that outstanding this year, their record is 3-1

the colts are the favourites, but this year its for the Pats:D

hope not, i fecking hate that brady fecker, he´s young, wealthy, great sportsman and good looking

hehehe
he has everything i lack of

He has a lot in common with me then, I'm young, a great sportsman, good looking and wealthy.

No wonder you dislike me, Marcos!

I assure you, Marcos that I don't wish any ill feeling towards you, but you're as good as my farts after I eat a whole packet of Scones

The redskins are being their own worst enemies at the moment, losing 3-6 to the Giants.

Watched the Bears beat the Bills earlier 40-7. They look awesome and looked like they would score everytime they got the ball.

they're the dark horses for the championship.

i'm going for the Pats though - probably false optimism.

I wouldn't say they're dark horses anymore considering their last two games.
