Not to bring down the mood, but we do actually have our own Trumpets on the rise. And the bizarre thing is, they're not even Norwegian variants of Trumpets, they're just straight out Trumpets. They're exactly like the American kind. Only a few weeks ago the leader of the Oslo (i. e. the capital!) branch of the right-wing FrP (who were in government until recently) was outright expelled from the party, and the local party in Oslo was put under central administration. He was pretty much talking about all the things we've been laughing at on the Caf, including all the "stolen election" stuff and Antifa false flags. He's probably a Qanon believer as well.
I guess the one positive to take from this is that even FrP has some limits. There are parties to the right of them who keep vacuuming up expelled FrP members, but they are utterly irrelevant. Incidentally, this is a thing that could basically never happen in US politics now, as far as I understand. Here the central party leadership ultimately has the power to decide who is in and who is out.
While you've got me talking, and I do love talking, after the Capitol siege the political debate show on the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation had on the leader of the Socialist Left Party to debate a prominent FrP politician. He had been one of the few to outright support Trump, nominaing him for the Nobel Peace Prize, for example. This guy had turned around after the storming, and was confronted by the fact that he had gone from thinking Trump was great in 2018 to thinking he's mentally ill by 2021. He was basically doing what many GOP politicians are doing now, just from a greater distance.
One of his claims in that debate was that it was "impossible" in 2018 to tell what kind of person Trump would be and what he would do in 2021. Suffice it to say that didn't come off as very believable.
