The bad (typically gun related) things happening in America thread

I see they apprehended this military-grade weapon toting mass murderer in a civil manner. Good thing for him that he isn’t a big, scary unarmed black man who committed the heinous crime of having faulty tail lights.

Young white man kills 10 people who were going about their day shopping for food and the police take you in peacefully, shoplift $10 of stuff while you are black and they stick a knee on your neck until you take your last breath and die. And jackasses like Ben Shapiro say there isn't institutional racism.

Why are people not picketing and protesting FOX studios, Carlson and his acolytes have blood on their hands.

Too many Americans are not particularly good at picking the right targets when it's time to protest. Fox News is located right in downtown New York, so it should be easy for protesters to get at. If you think that the splashing red paint on the Russian ambassador in Poland was rough, the likes of Tucker Carlson deserve to taste the same 3, 4 or 5 times more from angry Americans.

Has the gunman been arrested?

Who the feck hates the Taiwanese outside of potentially a small portion of mainland Chinese?

Yes, he has been subdued by a number of churchgoers themselves.

The shooter is a 68-year-old immigrant. His history looks more complex according to this account (from AP, relayed on CTV News), but he appears to have fallen into severe mental decline. As much as we speak of the impact of Fox News in emboldening white supremacists, we can also suspect some kind of similar pervasive impact from Chinese propaganda on weak minds within Chinese-speaking communities.

Dylan Roof worshipper.

Cops shoulda shot him some before taking him into custody. Saved the taxpayer some time and money.

It's one of those days when the heinous nature of the crime is so obvious that there is no other better outcome for the people than a summary execution of the perpetrator.

This is fecking frightening…

Maybe? I guess the view of a lawyer might be more informed but I will say that my sister graduated from a top 10 law school and as far as I remember not a single one of her friends/circle went on to clerk. They all had positions at private firms or governmental posts lined up. So if the point is that upper tier law students do not want to clerk then sure, but if the point is that they are being barred from clerking I doubt that's the case.

Or is the point that they are trying to pack the legal system with religious zealots?

Nah, the point is what Maryland said, the spooky thumper feeder system.

not trying to defend any of that, but what are the class sizes? Ie, if Harvard graduates 100 and the shitschool 15 then the percentages mean very little.

It’s something like 600 v 150.

Still frightening, especially with the Federalist Society greasing the skids of the feeder system.

The Federalist Society is everything that conservatives think the Cultural Marxists over at the Frankfurt School are. It should be incredibly concerning that this group has managed to advance every single current ultra-conservative member of the Supreme Court, meaning two thirds of the entire Court. And whatever happens in the next few years, the three youngest are all conservatives. They could easily stay up there for another 30 years (another insanity of the way the Supreme Court operates in the US).

Where it’s really going to feck us is at the district & circuit court levels. Already has started.

The Senate knew exactly what they were doing when they blocked a crap ton of Obama judge nominees. Didn't allow him to fill 105 judge positions so their future guy could pack it with Federalist Society judges. We really will pay for this for generations to come. Vile fecking monsters. It's critical that the Dems don't lose control of the Senate.
