The bad (typically gun related) things happening in America thread

This video was in the comments and is perfect.

As an aside, good lord I feel old. That kid is Jane Krakowski!!!!

I’d like to point out… the SC legislator that suggested firing squad is a Democrat.

During South Carolina’s lengthy debate, Democratic state Sen. Dick Harpootlian — a prosecutor-turned-criminal-defense lawyer — introduced the firing squad option. He argued that it presented “the least painful” execution method available.

“The death penalty is going to stay the law here for a while,” Harpootlian said. “If we’re going to have it, it ought to be humane.”

I abhor the death penalty, but if it is going to happen I guess if the marksman is good I would agree I would take it over the chair and lethal injection. Seriously though, if you are advocating for humane why not tape a shaped charge to the back of the head and set it off? Or better yet how about we get away with this barbarism. #christianvalues

Humane? I hope they at least give the prisoners some heroin before pumping them full of hot lead.

Bring back the guillotine then, clean and fast

Not a law yet, but the Mizzou GOP is trying to kill people…

Having read into this more, it looks like abortions for ectopic pregnancies will be legal if performed in hospital by a doctor or qualified medical professional. The law is against, shall we say “self-administered” or “amateur” abortions.

It’s not quite as horrific as headlines would suggest. Personally I don’t know anyone who WOULDN’T go to a doctor for this (barring stated driving out doctors who perform them, or the obvious cost).

Is that a new clarification? Because the law states…

10 3. The offense of trafficking abortion-inducing devices or drugs is a class A
11 felony if:
12 (1) The abortion was performed or induced or was attempted to be performed or
13 induced on a woman carrying an unborn child of more than ten weeks gestational age;
14 (2) The abortion was performed or induced or was attempted to be performed or
15 induced on a woman who has an ectopic pregnancy;

Amusing when one considers the Missouri state motto: The welfare of the people shall be the supreme law.

I’m trying to find the link that clarified it, but from memory it centres around that term or ‘trafficking’ - essentially if it’s in a hospital by a doctor it isn’t trafficking an abortion-inducing device or drug.

I’ll edit the post with the link when I find it.

This isn’t the site I found originally but confirms they’re looking to amend the ‘confusing’ language - saying it’s to render ‘at-home’ remedies illegal, ectopic abortions by a medical professional will not be illegal.
