Yes.

If @Annahnomoss really wants to keep this an open field, I suggest that he consults with @Balu and @antohan and draws up a list of 13/14 x 16 players and forces managers to choose from that list only. Now that would be a proper auction and really force mangers to balance their budgets.

1. Crappy
2. Green

I will keep this list of complaints updated and if a lot of people agree or voice an opinion of something we take a further discussion on it.

None. I think that the all-time players as they are provide enough of a challenge with enough restrictions. I don't think it is very easy to fit such huge stars in the team and you can't have that many of them without the correct complementing partnerships.

I really think that selected pool of 16X13/14 players is a winner if you want no restrictions. Otherwise I can guarantee you that there will be easy 10m players available in the end for everyone. Last 4-5 players for everyone will be auction free affair pretty much defeating the purpose of auction all together
 
I'm in Disneyland until tuesday, I'll be checking in when I can. @Pat_Mustard will probably be making most of the bids/decisions in the mean time (:nervous:)

As for a reset or rule change, I'm fine with whatever the majority wants. It seems a bit of a cluster already :lol:

True enough.

The main argument for restricting the pool – in terms of GOATs and shiny names, I mean – is that you make it less easy to simply dazzle the voters.

But if everyone has shiny names, it's no longer an issue – it goes back to being about balance.

Impossible to say anything about how well the format as such will work before the actual bidding – with deadlines – begins. Will be interesting to see. I'm guessing it'll be great fun and pretty intense to begin with – and then...well, that remains to be seen.

No restrictions also means a different kind of approach to selling your team. The key players will be well known - nothing much can be gained from elaborate write-ups designed to highlight individual players. It has to be more about putting together a plausible team – possibly modeled on this or that – and then argue the merits of your overall approach.
 
I think when managers put a request for a player up, the organisers allocate the minimum starting bid for them. Would stop unreal players going for pennies later on.
