The funny thing was that looking at your back four it struck me that Schnellinger was the ideal LB to have next to someone like Passarella. An accomplished CB, he can stay conservative when Passarella/Vasovic bursts forward. The problem usually is people don't want a "defensive LB" to fit in a gung-ho libero, but Schnellinger isn't that, Volkswagen can burst forward himself, which makes it all the better because you don't want the libero bursts to be predictable at all.

Nah, it was an unbalanced side a very specific approach which I myself was not very fond of - and I missed the first 7 hours of the game or so I deserved to lose, but it was sad to see that I couldn't give Hidegkuti and Kubala a good draft they deserved.

Ideally, I would've picked some RB/RCB (not sure about the quality of those who are left in the pool though), push Beckham slightly back in RM position and play this loopsided something - it would be better for both Baresi and Beckham here. Your defence looks incredible, your midfield is more than solid, and I like how all your players look together.

Beckham will be playing RM position and my RB for now is Zambrotta(@Mani ).

As for RB/RCB position i cant decide between 2 players.....plan B is 3 man defence so im looking for right sided centerback and i have one player in mind but he played RB for most of his career(but defensive one) so im not sure how would people react when played as RCB.

ALL-TIME DRAFTED XI (Step-by-step)

I doubt there will be anyone good enough to get into this that would have flown under the radar (there are quite a few shocking omissions, mind).

First name on the teamsheet: Edson Arantes do Nascimento "Pelé". This will be a fantasy team so there's no need for a Diego raising everyone's already very high level. Di Stéfano is tempting at 55M, but I don't want a "one-man spine", I want them all to shine individually AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT PELÉ DID. Surrounded by great players, he wouldn't expect -or demand- that they play for him, very much the opposite. He would attract the attentions of rival players, leaving more scope for his fantastic teammates to strut their stuff... and even then he still managed to shine through as the best player on the pitch. Legend.

It goes without saying I want different players on either wing, a bit like Rivelino and Jairzinho but hopefully will have enough money left to dare to improve on them without losing any of what made that frontline special.

Second name on the teamsheet: Giacinto Facchetti. For the reason mentioned before: want an inside left, so Giacinto is a no brainer.

Third name on the teamsheet: Lev Yashin. I don't care how little impact keepers have in these, if keepers range from 10-15M save the 5M elsewhere and get the best.

Let's check the damage, shall we? 136M. Oh boy, need a 10M a pop defence and midfield if I'm going to get those great attacking players...

Fourth and fifth name: Nasazzi-Da Guia, 10M a pop, best defensive pairing my grandfather saw in his lifetime (almost the entire XXTH Century). A pair that used to regularly face five forwards charging towards them, with halfbacks in tow sure, but the five were running AT them two. Beasts.

Sixth name: No brainer for fit and price, José L. Andrade, he may as well get to play where he should at some point in this thread.

Seventh name: It's bizarre, there are absolute tonnes of superb 10M players for every role, even adding an extra 2M you can get someone like Baggio. Defensive midfielders? Nope, all (the few around) outrageously expensive. Varela for 25M, thank you very much. If you are noticing many Uruguayan players it isn't bias, they just went insanely cheap.

Eighth name: Who's playing Gerson but being a better all-rounder than Gerson? Masopust goes, love him, but don't need his type. Blanchflower, Bozsik, Schuster, Suarez... 10M each, blimey! Eenie minie mo... Feck it, with Facchetti there, give me Luis Suárez (not the rodent) every day. Varela won't need a translator either, which is useful.

Ninth/Tenth/Eleventh name: I have 99M left, 33M for each. Mmmm... Can do Rivelino, Jairzinho and Romario I'd love that, probably should pick it... but it's a bit boring to just replicate the exact same players as in 1970. Nope. Oh wait! What? Meazza at 14M? He is better than Rivelino, he is an improvement on how well Mazzola played with Facchetti... And the Inter connection... I have a soft spot for Inter, back in the 80s they bought Germans when I had spent my childhood watching German football. Then in the 90s they seemed the only big team in the world interested in having Uruguayan players (well, yeah, Juve did eventually but I loved watching Sosa at Inter). Meazza it is, and he frees up cash to attempt what looked impossible: Georgie boy on the right. Yes! Yes! Yeeeeeeeees!!!! 25M left for a striker. Easy peasy, 22M will get you Uwe Seeler, the most perfect upgrade on Tostao you could ever find. An irreppressible striker, but also a very generous and technically proficient one ready to make play with everyone around him. Perfect, done, dusted, settled... Wait, what? Müller for 20M?
