The valuations on this are completely ridiculous. This needed more restrictions on nationality or similar to drive price disparities, as it is most will wind up sitting on a pile of cash while still sporting superb sides.

Question is how the cash is dealt with in the next rounds. If it's carried over, someone could walk it by winning their first round match – just grabbing the biggest upgrades unhindered.

Theoretically, that is. There may be too many big upgrades around for one man to capitalize. That remains the possible saving grace of the unlimited pool format.

That said, some of the amounts so far are...odd. Pure gold valued less than...fool's gold, if you ask me. But that's the managers' fault, of course – not the format.
