Joan Segarra

The legendary defender was part of the Barça of the Five Cups in the 1950s and is one of the players who has made most appearances for the Club.

Segarra was a true gentleman on the pitch, and his noble and very proper attitude won him the admiration of respect of the entire footballing world. He was a versatile player, although his natural positions were at half back or left back. He was brave and dedicated and would never stop yelling encouragement to his team mates. He had the perfect physical shape, tremendous skills, and was a solid marker. Although he played at the back, he also had a fine shot and scored several decisive goals.

He was unable to show the continent what he could do at the disappointing European Cup Final in Berne, 1961, because of an unfortunate eye injury.

After retiring, the ‘great captain’ stayed on at Barça as a youth team coach and in the 1979-80 season he was assistant first team coach to Helenio Herrera.

Predictably enough, this was who I wanted you to pick up in the FM draft @Šjor Bepo . A golden opportunity to right one of Fergie's rare mistakes:

Just before Barnes left Watford, manager Graham Taylor had departed to Aston Villa to be succeeded by Dave Bassett, who had resigned himself to losing Barnes to a bigger club. He offered Alex Ferguson the chance to sign Barnes for Manchester United, but Ferguson rejected the opportunity to sign Barnes as he still had faith in United's left winger Jesper Olsen. This was revealed in Ferguson's autobiography Managing My Life in 1999. Ferguson has since expressed regret at not signing Barnes

I can pass on James as my squad is going to be absolutely saturated with old-timers as it is :lol:. It'll get me nowhere in the voting but hopefully there'll be some good discussions about them.

Mine will be filled with old timers as well. I don't think I've seen Greaves selected in my year of drafting , I'm sure he has appeared in some of the earlier ones though

Some truly brilliant players on show there and most of them are all-time material who mostly weren't picked due to the nationality restrictment in the all-time draft

Yeah he's appeared quite a few times, with Gio, Chesterlestreet and Joga all posting some good stuff about him IIRC. He should be an easy sell with his great goal record and a good amount of footage. I love this goal, proper Romario-esque:
