Any betting tips on this one? Know nothing about golf beyond who the big names are, but perhaps now the time's to start.
Augusta favours the big hitters - Woods, Mickleson, Cabrera, McIlroy etc. (eight green jackets between them if I'm not mistaken). But you also need to have a great putting game; if your putter's out you've no chance, which would favour the likes of Luke
Donald.
What's 'held him back' at the Masters is that he isn't one of the big hitters, so the par 5s he'll be at a disadvantage, but his short game is up there with the best, and Nick Faldo's tipped him. I had him E/W last year, and he sneaked into fourth.
Westwood always seems to be there or thereabouts, and is usually worth an E/W bet too, good all round game, he just seems to fall short at the majors.
McIlroy famously collapsed after looking set for the green jacket in last year's final round, and everyone thought it could severely hinder him mentally, being so young and so close, to being so far away, but the next major (US Open) he absolutely blitzed the field, played golf that no one had ever seen, so he should still be up there, as long as he doesn't have any recurring nightmares about last year. He's also well worth betting for the first round leader, or laying after the first round. His first round always seems to leave him in contention - Open, US Open, Masters, he's been up there after day one. He also loves playing in America
One outsider for me (solely for his big hitting) is Bubba
Watson. It's a small E/W bet; he hasn't been tipped by anyone, but at about 50/1, you never know.
Mickleson was said to be putting with a meat cleaver at the start of the year, but has turned that around now, so he could be in with a shout. I usually have a bet on him (and won in '09), but I've left him alone this year.
Then of course there's Woods, always guaranteed a storming final round, so I'll see how he's playing over the first three rounds before placing any money on him, but you never know with him, I just felt his odds didn't match his value.
Anyway, my tips are in bold, all E/W bets.
Anyone know where I could watch this online? I don't understand tv companies paying so much money for it and then only showing half of it.
