Min 20 Test
Players from 1960
Lets avoid Zim and bangaladesh,They had done nothing in term of test.

@Varun set a new thread up with the rules. let's get this started asap
Yeah, let me just finalise things first.

Debuts after 1st Jan, 1960 fine with everyone?

How about you @Interval? Not going too far back but still including the past was which makes these drafts fun.

Avoiding Zimbabwe means a certain player who would be a top pick for a specialist role is ineligible :smirk:

Yeah I don't think we will restrict Bangladesh or Zimbabwe. Even Bangladesh has a few decent players

The rules as of now.

  • Squad of 12 players to be selected.
  • Debuts on or after 1st Jan 1960.
  • Minimum of 20 tests.
  • The playing 11 must have 6 nationalities represented with a maximum of 3 from any single country.

If anyone disagrees with this, say so in the next hour. I'll start the thread then.

Sounds good

But I'm hoping we are not opting for varying pitches thing

As it is group wise, it's probably best if we have all games in a group under different conditions to even out any advantage like that.

I'm thinking of 3 match test series for every match. I'll give out conditions(not stadiums or countries) for each test and the voters would need to decide who'd win the series.

For instance:

1st test: Good batting pitch but one that has help for seam bowlers.

2nd test: Good batting wicket but one that will deteriorate as the game goes on and help spinners in the last 2-3 days

3rd test: Green top, assists pace, seam and swing bowling.

Thoughts?

If its in a group, can we just make 1 thread with people voting which teams would go through?

We have 13 players atm which isn't a good number. We need to make it 12 or 14.

Then,

1. 6/7 matches with 6/7 winners and 2/1 best losers going into the QFs.

OR

2. 3 groups of 4 each. Top 2 from each group go into QFs. (this needs 12 teams)

I'd suggest you leave it upto the voters to decide. It doesnt add much to the game. The problem is that you can't plan for the pitch and adds a huge element of luck to the game. But that's just me. I'm game if people think otherwise.

That's alright. I'll take a bye to the QFs directly.

You join too Varun.
Can't find the time, sorry.

Some pitch condition is required to get a feel of the test. I hate the luck factor too which is why I've included 3 types of pitches. Each aiding 1 department. So you'd need balanced squads.

You can't plan for conditions but that's part of the fun of drafting. Three matches would balance it out.

Ah forgot to mention that, sorry. 6 different nations in the 11 with a maximum of 3 per nation.
If it's all time in out. Very limited time and can't be arsed arguing how good jack Hobbs was
