Korda vs Hurkacz going down to the wire.
Been an incredibly high level match so far.Sinner with some great tennis.
Not that surprising as Lehecka and Korda were predicted as a possible dark horses of this AOFelix really isn’t answering many of the questions around him.
That was a great match, think Rune just had nothing left in the tank.Rune was 5-2 up in the final set. Blew it but went 5-0 up in the final set tiebreak.
Match point a fecking let cord though, bit of a horrible way for it to end.

I only saw the final set but thought he bottled it but hopefully the loss doesn't stay with him for a long time. That was a great match, think Rune just had nothing left in the tank.

I don’t think Rublev can beat Djokovic, hampered or not. I think Rune might have been able to, albeit best of 5 is a different beast. Tournament’s loss, I suspect.I only saw the final set but thought he bottled it but hopefully the loss doesn't stay with him for a long time.
I guess he's still new to this but given he's won all his matches in straight sets before and this was a relatively quick 5 set match, disappointing result for him.
Think Rune would have been a more interesting match up for Novak in the QF but Rublev a decent player.
I can't see it happening either but Rublev, while one dimensional is a pretty consistent player that if Djokovic is well below his best he could trouble him. That said I think Rublev probably doesn't believe himself.I don’t think Rublev can beat Djokovic, hampered or not. I think Rune might have been able to, albeit best of 5 is a different beast. Only the final set + TB really. Overall there wasn’t much here that will cause Novax to have a sleepless night.
I think it’s fairly safe to say the Djokovic match is over, barring injury.
I’m just a guy. Out here on my own, speaking truth to power.brave call.
I hope Djokovic wins this. It will be best "fu" ever. ADM should have kept his mouth shut last year. Got the proper beating today and it seems it was personal from Djokovic.
Jim: "Why did you beat his so badly?"
Novak: "Because I wanted to."
Job is far from done and Novak has a tendency to play subpar after a great performance and vice versa.
Only hope for opponents are a serious drop in form from Novak because so far he looks the best player in this tournament.
What is Kokkinakis doing in that lot?
Fair enough. But almost every tennis player in that crappy show is top 30ish or at least is someone pointed as future star. You need to scroll a lot of pages to reach Kokkinakis on ATP ranking, hence why I asked. No idea. I only saw the Kyrgios episode and quickly got bored.
Speaking of Gulbis, the year is 2023 and he’s still pulling this shit. From the first 5 episodes of Break Point (of course aimed at casual fans and not regular followers), I thought that the best one by far was episode 4 featuring Jabeur and Badosa.
On the women's side, I really don't like Azarenka (in many ways she's similar to Djokovic, certainly in terms of trying to hard to be liked over the years, but she has often been rude to ball kids) and I was hoping Pegula would beat her. However Pegula just can't get past this quarter-final hurdle, losing at this stage in Melbourne in each of the last 3 years, plus now in 4 of the last 5 grand slams.
Despite coming from such an incredibly wealthy family, fair play to Pegula for competing so hard on the grind of the circuit and remaining so grounded (unlike Gulbis on the men's side who came across as an idiot), including when she was stuck between 100-200 in the rankings for a while (getting to the top 100 and staying there is a big deal with it guaranteeing a main draw place at the grand slams). I guess though for many other players failing to break into the top 100 for so long could spell an early end to their career with them losing money and struggling financially, while with her not having to worry about money troubles see could focus on her game and results without that added pressure.
AO 2017 comes to mind...Nadal would have even more slams if he ever had such reliable serve.
