Rafa fans. Savour this moment, potentially the last time we see him play.

If it is, I'm happy it's finished this way. Not a surprise, on his favorite court and record breaking.
Yep. If he's gone, he's gone out on a high - especially given he beat Novak along the way.

Ruud had a great tournament. Nothing to be ashamed of, losing to Rafa.

Even Roger lost 6-3 6-1 6-0 one time if I remember correctly.

Ruud will be back. Good experience for him.

Yup Djokovic got bagelled in 2020 too

I doubt Rafa’s French open wins record will even be remotely threatened. What a player! He is so inspirational as a player and a real gentleman! It’s like a dream watching him pulling off 2 slams in a row.

Good tournament for Ruud though. He had an extremely nice route to the final but did the business in decent fashion.

Not sure he'll ever win RG but this will be a good experience for him as I'm sure he will make plenty of QFs, so will at least be in the mix.

Undisputed GOAT until Djokovic overtakes him.

22 GS whilst playing vs peak Federer and peak Djokovic, also dealing with all those injuries. There is no debate really, the small minus is the glay dominance but the other arguments work strong in his favor.

It's odd. Having so many of your total wins stemming from one event is normally taken as a detractor, but 14 RG wins is just remarkable.

He's got more non-clay GrandSlam titles, than the other 2 have outside of hard courts.

And with the eight elsewhere, he's not a one trick pony either. :D

Pretty good stay in Paris for Rafa - wins #14, extends GOAT lead, and watches Madrid win another CL

Certainly underlines his longevity and shows the oldies aren't just picking off the odd tournament in their dotage.

No retirement just yet then.

Not a certainty but be interested to see what he says in his press conference. He said he would reveal all after the tournament so lets see.

Possibly a Murray type surgery for quality of life where retirement is possibly on the cards but he'll try all he can to continue.

Quite amazing isn't it? He was considered 2nd best during Federer era, and 2nd best during Djokovic era, yet here he is, winning more GS than any of them.

He has managed 200+ weeks as world number 1 in between all that too

Rafa non-commital on US tv interview about coming back next year. I expect Alcaraz to be running the show by then.

Nadal keeps on keepin' on

C'mon Rafa, play Wimbledon! You can win it!

Hasn’t actually, he’s got 8 non-clay slams. Federer has 9 non-hard and Djokovic 8.

Agree with the general point though, it’s not as heavily padded as first seems in comparison.

Better to use grass for Federer as that's his surface.

Djokovic has two slams on his favoured surface as well.

Has any human being ever been as good at anything as Nadal is at playing tennis in the Paris clay?

Nadal is by no means great today, but he doesnt have to be.

I thought he was better than in the semis against Zverev (at least as far as it went). While Zverev is a bit better than Ruud, it was also a a ver bang average showing there from Rafa.

Ruud has some abilities and is not to be underrated. His backhand needs work though. It‘s hardly ever threatening.

The ATP medical committee could (should?) stop him like they do with boxeurs, and revoke his license to avoid him hampering his own health, and wellbeing for the future. Twenty years down the line, he would surely thank them?
