Tbf, the best player in men’s tennis at the moment and possibly the GOAT regularly took advantage of those rules, especially in his younger years, so I’m not sure it matters. It’s just a cutthroat business.And all those saying well 'its in the rules stop sobbing' - bet they love it when we're down to a weaker opponent and they start feigning injury in the 55th minute. They applaud the cheater as simply leveraging the flawed rules of the game.
There is value in sport to in sportsmanship. For the spectator but also the athletes themselves. You can push the limits of it for sure and still win, but the manner in which you do so is what differentiates legends from others, imo.
I seethed about the USO semi when Djokovic came back from 2 sets down with a MTO every 2 games or so for years, but eventually even Fed started doing it as well, so you just have to accept it as part of the game. Being honest doesn’t pay the bills.
