Tennis 2019

IF Djokovic is doing a mini tank to conserve energy in this set, I wonder would he be better off just keeping Federer out there as long as possible. He, presumably, has much more in the tank for a long match than Federer, so even if he can't win this set, it might make Federer less likely to win the next two

That shot there by Fed:eek: Unbelievable.

I’d really like to see Federer go back to the serve and volley more.
Dangerous against a great passer like Novak. He has to pick and choose his moments or Novak will eat him alive.

Do tennis players just throw games in those situations? Just say "feck it, no point wasting energy chasing an almost certain lost cause" and move on.

Wow, double faulted out the set. Game on! Fed's standard has not dropped, can Novak step back up?

Fed needs to maintain his concentration at the start of the third. Has to hold his serve as Novak will be quite different at the start. No way he continues his 2nd set form.

Yeah they definitely do. Well everyone except Nadal. He will still give 500% 0-40 and 0-5 down.

Even Nadal in such a situation wouldn't necessarily give up, but he'd be way more aggressive than he usually is in order to end the point quickly.

People waving at the screen instead of the camera. It will never stop irking me.

Federer has a coach. What can he coach him about that he doesn’t already know? He’s the GOAT.

There’s always something new to learn. It’s like chess, the one observing tend to see more, even if his skill isn’t higher.

Stefan Edberg for instance asked Fed to work on his backhand as soon as he came in. Results weren’t instant but it culminated in his new backhand that overcome Nadal in 2017 AO.

Hm, fair enough.

Is Djokovic injured?

The question is whether Djokovic will continue to serve as badly? If he starts holding his serve with ease Fed will be in trouble, because his inevitably calamitous service game will come.

Lot of double faults.. he looks a bit hurt, though his body language always drops when his play does.
