Was clearly in energy saving modus at 5-1. Just needs to get back to set 1 level of tennis now.
I think its a stupid tactic if he deliberately gave up. Momentum is also very important and nadal has that now
I don't think Federer have the stamina to go the distance.
It’s a good strategy with his age. He’s turning it into a best of 3 game. I don’t think he could power through 3 sets without completely blowing his energy and tanking massively at the end. This is his only way of competing IMO.

The volleys he missed, and the shanks, were not "giving up" - that would be not getting his racket to the ball. Those were all errors.

It's been like an Isner match to be honest. First set had barely any good rallies. Second set was awful and this one looks like the first set again.

Both men are serving well and have been for all this tournament. People hyping this up to be another 2008 classic clearly haven’t watched these two men in recent years. They can’t play like that and had to adapt.

That is an utterly awful game from Nadal. Rubbish errors and timid play. He had to break there.
Missed chance after missed chance
The level's jumped up a fair bit - Nadal could have forced it more but Fed's defence of those big forehands at 30-40 was very good.
It does seem like he’s banking on unforced errors from Fed in these rallies which is quite often a good strategy without taking too many risks
