I am not including him in any group. I am putting him above Hewitt. You by default are assuming that it means Murray is at level of McEnroe, Agassi, Lendl etc.

Yes, that would be the next stop in the ladder, which Murray still needs to climb a few steps to reach.

Maybe. What is certain though that whichever step he is on is above Hewitt :)

I’d say Murray is closer in talent to Lendl et al. than Hewitt. Even as an Aussie, I never rated Hewitt particularly highly in the grand scheme of things. No longevity either.

That's correct - most people are interested in slams alone. But if you want a more comprehensive deep dive then you have to consider how good they were on all surfaces, how many tournaments they won throughout their careers, and for how long they were at number one.

I would argue if we are talking about comprehensive deep dives, the level of opponents should be considered as well. Statistics without context are useless.

He's sill playing week in week out.. in doubles

Think Anderson has already passed the 20 hours mark for time spent on court by now. He's a fit guy but that has to count for something for Isner surely?

This match is never-ending:lol: Been waiting for Rafa/Novak for ages. If these serve bots keep going we could be here for another hour or two at this rate.
Would like to see Anderson win, even though I don't mind Isner.

Rafa/Novak licking their lips here as whomever wins this will hardly have much energy for Sunday.

Ffs thought I'd get home in maybe the second set of the Rafa, Novak match, but I think it's more likely I'll get home and Isner is firing down aces.

Can Anderson take his chance here?

How come they don't do that thing they did in the 2008 final between Nadal and Federer where if they both win like 7 games each in a set it goes into a points tie breaker?

Well whoever wins this is likely fecked for the final. Maybe the case beforehand, definitely now.

Isner looks shattered.

No tie breaks in final sets of Grand Slam events. Could be here all night for a winner.

No tie breaker in the 5th set. It was the same in 2008.

Ah ok, makes sense. Thought the 5th set in 2008 went into a tie breaker but must be mistaking it for some of the earlier sets.

Is there a reason why that is? I find it odd that the other 3 do but the US has a tie breaker
No idea on the history behind it. I guess they all have the right too (like with seeding) but with seeding only Wimbledon uses it's own formula rather than the ATP rankings.

Oh dear we are here forever. No light at the end of the tunnel:lol:

Nobody can break!:D

How late have they play up to this Wimbledon? 9pm? I'm thinking the next match will only finish tonight if it's a straight forward 3 sets match.

Actually seems a bit dumb to have no tie breaks in the 5th set when you match up two guys like these who are strong on serve, tired on their game play and you just enter a period at attrition where people are just winning by serving and no one ever breaks serve.
