Yes that and he beat Rafa last year and Rafa won't be taking him lightly, especially on "his" surface.

Good start so far.

24 mins played and about 20 mins of it played on Shapovalovs serve.

Del Potro was 5-4 up in the second set and pulled out due to injury.

Predictably, Rafa marches on. Would be great to see how an in form Zverev fares against him in the finals.

Just looked at the stats for the Nadal-Shapovalov match and Rafa lost just 5 points on his serve (8 service games played)

Yeah Rafa's serve was very strong. If it wasn't, Shapo may have had a shot at nicking the first set. 2nd set was all Rafa.

Just noticed Djokovic is in the quarters in Rome. Hope he does well. Tennis needs him back.

Plays Nishikori too who he beat recently. Hope him and Rafa meet in the SFs

I’m sure Rafa does too.

As that h2h is still tight, so Rafa must be disappointed he hasn’t played Djokovic at his lowest in the past year. Where as a few years ago when Nadal was at his lowest they met quite a bit.

Rafa has Fognini. That could be tricky if Fognini comes in fired up like against Thiem. But you expect Rafa to have too much know how to deal with that.

I've not see highlights of his match today yet, but it sounded convincing. Fognini has beaten Rafa a few times, but that was during his poor spell. Expect a potentially tricky but straight sets win tomorrow.

Never seen anyone miss an easier overhead smash than Nishikori just did.
Djokovic missed in EXACTLY same manner in Madrid open. Versus? Kei Nishikori :D
Although Djokovic was in better position in game when that point was played and went on to win that game.

Good win for Djoko. He broke Nishikori's spirit in the next to last game and made the final game much easier.

He faces Rafa next. Can't see him winning that one.

Right now Rafa and Zverev are hitting the ball better than anyone and I expect them to clash in the final.

That was a good final set.

Djokovic and Nadal in the SFs tomorrow!

Great match. Djokovic getting better each match. Ultimate test up next.

I hope Novak somehow makes it through although I'm not holding my breath. Tennis badly needs him to return for another year or two of top tennis before he finally fades.

If Djokovic wins tomorrow then he has a boost ahead of the French. Even if he wins though, I’m not gonna say he is back. He needs to win another slam before you could say that.

The h2h is currently 26-24 to Djokovic.

Also crazy how Zverev hasn’t started playing. Whilst Cilic is probably in bed.

The scheduling was weird. Usually same half/quarter players play around similar times. Djokovic match should have happened after Nadal's and Cilic at Djokovic-Nishikori slot.

Nadal - Djokovic match will start at around 2pm (UK time) for those interested

Pretty good performance from Novak given the past couple of years. He definitely seems on his way back.

Rafa should win the whole thing obviously.

Anyone know where I can find the full match of Nadal - Djokovic with English commentary?

I've been out all day and forgot to record it but from what I've read sounds like it was a cracking match.

Impressive performance from Zverev - battling injury and a very tough opponent to make the final.

Great final to look forward to.

But I wonder if Zverev will be done by the French open.

His body isn’t ready like Nadals who can go clay tournament after tournament.

French open will take more out of him with the additional sets.

Obviously it’s easy to say he should have skipped Munich. But that victory gave him the confidence after awful start to the season.

Tomorrow will be the ultimate test. Nadal will probably let him come out hitting and then wear him down. They played twice on clay and it’s been routine for Nadal.

I expect Rafa to steamroll him tomorrow. He's hitting the ball very well at the moment an Sasha is going to be tired and bothered by his various minor injuries.
