Fed has won the French once and reached the final 5 times, losing 4 times to the clay GOAT. That's weaker than Nadal at Wimbledon, but not "far, far" weaker.
Federer also has 2 standout clay matches that should count towards this - he ended Nadal's multi-year, 81 match, streak on clay, and he ended Djokovic's 2011 unbeaten run at the French Open.

I'd say they are a lot weaker. Nadal's taken Federer (who a lot consider the grass court goat) twice to 5 sets to Wimbledon (winning it once), while it's never been close at the French between them. Nole has been a much worthier competitor on clay for Nadal.

Erm he's won it twice, and made 5 straight finals. His credentials on grass are far, far stronger, than anyone in the all time discussions on clay (bar borg and possibly laver). He's also won 3 on hard courts.
Nadal hasn't made it to 5 straight finals? Only Borg, Mac and Federer have made it 5 in a row.

He missed 2009 because of injury, but between 2006-2011 he made the final every single time he entered.
Sure but that's not in a row. :) As it is pretty impressive record itself and only three men have done it(in consecutive years).

Apparantely Nadal hasn't made to the quarter-final of Wimbledon since 2011!
That's pretty damning for someome who is regarded as one of the GOATs of tennis. If he crash out to Muller, his legacy would take a hit no matter how you try to look at it.

Nadal could see out his career going out before the quarters and he'd still be right up there in terms of GOAT credentials.

As @Raees has put it, you can make excuses for the previous years, but not this year

Yeah he's comfortably in the top 3 players ever at worst. I thought his number 2 spot was cemented quite some years ago.

Muller didn't even get a look in on the Nadal serve in the third, even with a set lead I still think you've got to make Rafa the favourite. Not been watching but impressive turnaround from Raonic against Zverev.

Nadal will win. He'll eventually tire Muller.

Fed should win this. Looking sharper than previous matches, Dimitrov can't get a handle on his serve and once Fed starts returning well, should start making a break through if not make an impact on tie breaks.

Dimitrov needs to ensure his serve and forehand remain extremely solid.

Yeah, just needs to avoid a sloppy service game. Muller look pretty deflated in the third, think he might feel his chance has gone.
aye, he's not the most mentally solid player on the tour as well.

Fed one break up. Have to say he's looking much sharper today.

Fantastic volley in the 10th game to open it up, couple with some nice serves.

6-4 Federer.

This is the problem with being so far behind. Free net approaches for Muller all day

Nadal serving really well. That's the great thing about grass, it gives the most average of players also a chance if they can serve well.

Federer is so aggressive on the return. Really nice to see. 2-3 years ago he'd slice all those returns.

Looks like Nadal is gonna claw his way out of this hole. Momentum very much with him now.

Hope so.

Can't believe he has any chance of the title but would be nice to have another five set comeback added to his Wimbledon resume.

Couple of questions on the women's side, for anyone with a view...

How did Konta play?

Is Muguruza beating Kerber particularly surprising or was it always one that could go either way?

He really pushes him on the second serve. Most of the time hits flat even on backhand. Add to that not many free points on serve and he's under a lot of pressure.

Yeah. Grigor should have made him pay more often for coming to the net though. He fluffed quite a lot of passing shots.

Konta got lucky at the end but she played alright, Garcia's a tricky opponent. Don't see her beating Halep but maybe being the underdog will take the pressure off a bit. Muguruza vs Kerber was always going to be close, Muguruza probably looked more convincing in the first week and with Kerber's year so far I don't think any loss for her is particularly surprising right now.
