Needs to cut out the UEs and keep serving strong. This will be nerve-wrecking :nervous:

I think Federer needs a miracle now. Making this many errors is enough to destroy anyone's self belief and doing that against Nadal is a garantueed loss.

He needs his serve to give him free points given he's been pretty poor in these big 5th sets in recent times.

Nadal has got this. Federer doesn't have the legs for five sets. Brilliant in the first and third sets, but tumescent in the second and fourth. Way too many errors.

Going into the fifth with Rafa on top and playing much better, no way he gets back into this.

Rafa has the uppper hand, sad to say. His nerve seems to be holding much better on the important points. Fed needs to break early and serves out the match. Can't see him winning any other way.

Quick break again? Nadal's pressure on federer's serve going to be immense again. Can see the unforced errors from Federer already.

Btw I am supporting the swiss as usual but it's hopeless after seeing so many of the same disappointments.
We know the feeling Kev...

Oh well... it had to end this way. I'm out. Another heart break.

This is why Nadal is the best ever, even though he's behind on GS (for now). When the going gets tough and it really matters, he digs in and he wins the important points.

Federer shits himself in the same situation.

Immediate break of serve for Rafa in the first game of the set. Match over.

Australian Open Champion: Rafael Nadal

What's the record when these two meets in major finals? I imagine Nadal is way ahead.

C'mon Rafa! Matches like this are way Fed's record is an absolute joke. He got so many of those GS when his best opponent was Roddick ffs. Telling that as soon as actually good tennis players came along (Rada, Djoko) he stopped winning anything.

Federer has not been good enough since he won the third set. Now on top of that he has to break just to stay in the tournament and not get broken. Seems like a tall order if i'm honest.

Has any other contender for "best ever" in any sport been dominated by one of his closest rivals like this? And still retains this so called "best ever" tag amongst so many fans of the sport? Just because he looks silky and has a pretty style?

Already thinking what Nadal's gonna say in his victory speech:(
