Tennis 2016

Andy now better, but still looks like Nole will break him at some point.

Murray has competed in this second set but it's still Novak with the break

From the BBC...

"In games where Djokovic is 40-0 down on an opponent's serve, he comes back to win the game 32% of the time."

Jesus Christ.

2-0

Djokovic is into that time period similar to when Federer won most of his slams... no one at his level. Like a fat kid at a buffet.

Murray did come back from two sets down against Djokovic in the French Open semi finals..

He did lose the final set, but here's hoping Murray can make it interesting.

Must be so infuriating being a Murray fan. He was unlucky with that serve not being called out though.

And the third set starts with a break for Nole. Should be game over now, fantastic return from Djokovic.

It's rather pathetic that Federer, at the age he is, is still the closest competitor Djokovic has. Where is the next generation of players? The top 10, aside from Nishikori, are all late twenties or in their thirties.

Okay so let me just say that Djokovic is a brilliant tennis player, one of the best of all time no doubt. However, the rest of the tour really do not help themselves. So many basic errors and mental barriers when they see him across the net. Murray had that second set for the taking and he blew it. I think the level of play that Djokovic has been at lately has been exaggerated by the (lack of) quality of his opponents. Tennis desperately needs someone to provide a good challenge.

Despite the men's final undoubtedly being of a higher standard, the women's final was much more enthralling.

Murray's decision making is really awful at times. He can get away with it with his talent but against Djokovic you need to be flawless to stand chance. 2nd set should have been Murray's.

happy for Murray. He is fighting and has been unlucky with a couple of decisions.

Djokovic could easily finish his career as the GOAT.

The man is an absolute machine. A pure athlete.
I just tuned in to this match, fortunately Murray just broke so I get to see more tennis hopefully.

For me, his peak is higher than Federer or Nadal's (though hampered through missing tournaments)

Thinking of tennis I am wondering why the likes of Martial and other young players can't play week in week out without risking burn out when young top players in tennis play gruelling schedules that never change much from 19 until they are 30. They don't go; oh I am a kid, better skip these tournaments and wait till I am older.

No intentional re arrangements of schedules because of age. Skeptical about the theory that there is a need to pamper young footballers to avoid supposed burn out.

you could say the same for Federer tbf.

Very easily. Just looking at the stats. Seems like Hewitt and Roddick were his main rivals (03-07)Looked at their records and pretty medicore to be honest. Murray has reached the same amount of Grand Slam finals as both of them combined.

That is not the way to start a crucial tiebreak.

Perfect way to start a tiebreak for the serb.

Differences in how they train, the types of bodies needed, collision injuries in football and and football has a lot more media pressure.

Yup and the pool was lot worse when Federer used to win 3 slams a year.

I'm not sure the pool was worse. Sure, there may not have been two or three top guys but the rest of the field was deeper. I don't think Novak has done anything really special the last few years anyway. An aging Federer, Nadal cooked, and Murray coming off back surgery and being inconsistent?

Can see the trAining and collisions being a factor, although with tennis there is far more pressure in matches as it's a one man game. All the mistakes and embarrassing moments are on you.

Murray's match-up with Djokovic is as bad as Fed-Djokovic atm. Virtually guaranteed win for Djok in slams.

But realistically there is only 4 times a year where the mistakes and embarrassing moments are world wide.

If you feck up in the premier league for even the small clubs it goes world wide.
