I'm not saying I disagree, but that's not "a fact". That's an opinion based on anecdotal evidence.
I'll be honest...that gave me a proper chuckle. I'm over here secretly typing away giggling to myself, as my wife is a huge Serena fan, and would be furious if she caught me mocking the women's game in this fashion. You are right though, it is fecking appalling. I think the women break serve more often than they hold it. Serena is the only one with a respectable serve and because of that she just fecking dominates. Watching her play Sugarpova the other day was fecking embarrassing. They were both grunting, shrieking and yelling at the top of their voices after almost every (incredibly average) point.
I think Serena can be a great role model for girls, and she seems very humble and magnanimous after defeat. But when I look at the women's game and see her (21 slams) about to surpass Steffi Graff (22), it's hard not to look over the last ten years and say, where has her competition been? The next highest grand slam winner is her sister Venus with 7, and she's been a non-entity for a long time. After that it is Maria with 4 or 5. Compare that with the men's game. You've got Federer (17), Nadal (14), and Djokovic (10, maybe 11 tonight), all playing in the same era. On top of that players like Murray and Warinka who would have won at least 5 each if they had been born 10 years earlier. Hyper-competitive.
This is how shit women's tennis is. Justin Henin was world number one, indisputably. Had 7 grand slams to her name at 24. Decided to retire (2007). Came out of retirement a couple of years later (2010), made the 4th round of the French and Wimbledon before getting to the Australian Open final, where she lost in 3 sets to Serena. Then retired again. She's 33 now. Could probably pick up a racket and make a decent run at most majors still.
